Location: El Centro, California
Shifts: 12-Hour Day or Night Shifts (as needed/on-call)
Rate: $65/hour (1099 contract)

In this role, you will support the emotional and psychological well-being of children in federal custody along the U.S. Southwest Border.
You'll work alongside our core behavioral health team, stepping in to provide trauma-informed care, crisis support, and clinical guidance as needed. What You'll Do

You will serve as a clinical resource to facility staff, assess the well-being of children on-site, and intervene in crisis situations when called upon.
Core Responsibilities
- Serve as a behavioral health point of contact for facility staff
- Conduct rounds to assess emotional and behavioral well-being of children
- Deliver trauma-informed crisis intervention and de-escalation support
- Guide staff on emotional regulation and child-centered behavioral health strategies
- Collaborate with CBP, HHS ORR, NGOs, and healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
- Support complex decisions related to medical, psychological, or developmental needs
- Document all behavioral health encounters and interventions accurately
- Offer input on process improvements to enhance child-centered environments
This position is structured around as-needed coverage, including day and night shift availability:
- 12-hour shifts: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM or 8:00 PM - 8:00 AM
- On-call rotation includes potential nights, weekends, and holidays
- Assignments may be offered with short notice to meet urgent staffing needs
- Master's or Doctoral degree in a behavioral health field
- Active, unrestricted license as one of the following:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW/LICSW)
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
- Licensed Psychologist (LP)
- At least 2 years of post-licensure experience, ideally in:
- Child development
- Trauma-informed care
- Clinical evaluations
- Strong communication and team-based collaboration skills
- Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred (minimum ILR 3/5 or equivalent)
- Comfortable responding to high-stress, high-urgency situations in evolving care settings
- Help protect and support vulnerable children in urgent situations
- Work with a collaborative, trauma-informed team of professionals
