Unissant is seeking a Database Engineer to join our team in Ashburn,VA to maintain an existing enterprise JEE application, supporting the Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

This is a highly technical position; individuals will be screened by peers in a technical review of skills and experience.

The ideal candidate will be a Database Engineer with Database Administrator experience, who can work within a matrixed project team tasked to migrate a large Oracle Database to Postgres Database in AWS Cloud. Also, adapt well to a fast-paced environment and contribute productively as a team member with minimal guidance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Identify user requirements, implement computer databases, test and coordinate modifications to the computer database systems.
Enhance the quality of data in existing repositories and prepare the data for migration to a new system.
Evaluate data quality, consistency, and adherence to standards.
Ensure system performance, comprehend the platform on which the database runs, and add new users to the system.
Formulate plans for data quality enhancements and mature existing data holdings to align with the overarching client strategy.
Serve as an Oracle database administrator, in both non-production and production environments.
Performance tune an enterprise production database.
Perform and manage data replication tasks.

Work Experience:
Required skills:
7+ years of strong overall Oracle DBA experience.
5+ years of Postgres DBA experience and hands-on experience conducting BA tasks like Partition Maintenance, Deployments, and Performance issues troubleshooting.
Advanced SQL skills querying relational databases, ability to create complex DDL, DML, DQL scripts. Experience querying multiple large data sets.
Experience in database modeling, architecture design, development, backup & recovery, and administration.
Experience in building new relational data models, tables, views, functions, grants, triggers, stored procedures, indexes, and other database components
Experience in SQL queries troubleshooting, debugging Stored procedures, identifying Blocking sessions in backend, complex joins etc.
Experience in troubleshooting performance issues with long running queries, tuning, optimization of queries.
Experience with Oracle PL/SQL, Stored Procedures, Packages and Functions development.
Experience working with Oracle and Postgres Aurora Databases, developing database objects.
Experience in migrating very large multi-terabyte databases to AWS Cloud
Experience with AWS DMS and SCT Tools.
Experience with troubleshooting Database issues like Performance issues and Resource issues.

Preferred skills :
Experience in migrating Oracle Databases to AWS Aurora Postgres RDS Databases

Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field with applicable experience is required. Applicable work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
This federal program requires the candidates to be a United States Citizen
Qualified applicants may be subject to a security investigation and must meet minimum qualifications for access to classified information.
Must have a current CBP BI clearance or be eligible to obtain one.

Communication Skills:
Solid ability to interface, inspire and motivate at various levels of the organization.
Ability to convey technical information to non-technical individuals.
Demonstrated experience communicating effectively across internal and external organizations.
Must work well in a matrixed team environment.

Travel:
This is a Hybrid position. Travel to customer site in Ashburn, VA is required.

Environmental Requirements:
Mainly sedentary, in an office environment.
May be required to lift up to ten (10) pounds.
Flexible in working extended hours.
