The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Keyport Division (NUWCDIVKPT) Detachment Pacific (Code 04/TDC) functions as NUWC's forward presence in the Middle Pacific, Guam, and Western Pacific (WESTPAC) providing Detachment/Site Management in accordance with the Commanding Officer's (CO) letter of delegated authority to provide for program management, planning, policy, and execution of assigned programs and facility operations at the Detachment; monitor Safety and Occupational Health (SOH), physical and information security, personnel administration, including Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and professional development and morale, environmental compliance, appropriate interaction with all levels of Government and public affairs functions, site and area coordination for emergency preparedness, facilities management and space utilization, site material readiness, proper use of Government equipment and proper expenditure of funds, and adherence to good management practices and controls; manage the Detachment/On-Site Office (OSO); perform Navy programs duties under authority; manage military personnel allowance in accordance with Navy regulations, including Article 15 authority (non-judicial punishment); and serve as the Command's representative to the local installation CO or facility host in negotiating for utilities, security services, and facility maintenance. Divisions supported within this task are Hawaii Fleet Test and Operational Assessment Division (Code 24), Pearl Harbor Torpedo Division (Code 34), and Fleet Technical Support Division (Code 45).

The candidate will provide Fleet & Industrial Operations & Engineering support for Underwater Tracking Range Equipment (UTRE), Training Vehicles/Shapes, Test and Support Equipment, and Fleet Operations Engineering Support.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Senior Mechanical Engineer on the Hawaii Detachments Support Services contract. This position is located in Honolulu, HI.

What You'll Do
  • Researches, develops, designs, manufactures, and tests tools, engines, machines, and other mechanical devices.
  • Develops power-using machines such as machine tools, material handling systems, industrial production equipment, and robots used in manufacturing.
  • Designs tools for other engineers.
  • Uses Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) for design data processing.
  • Assist with CNC/lathe/milling machine operation and maintenance.
  • Assist with various carpentry, painting, welding, hydraulic systems, electrical support as needed.
  • Provide documentation packages and reports for equipment, components, systems and inventory management.
  • Perform work in the shop and/or in the field (including fleet support and possible off-island travel).
  • Provide facility maintenance/cleaning support that includes but not limited to trash/hazardous.materials disposal and metal recycling while following environmental guidelines.
What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • The ability to obtain and maintain an active secret clearance is required to be considered for this role.
  • HS Diploma required.
  • At least seven (7) to 10 years of similar professional experience work experience in an industrial, maintenance, and repair environment.
  • Certifications / Licenses required:
    • Must attain respirator certification and medical clearance.
    • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) & Adult First Aid certified through the American Red Cross or equivalent certification body.
    • Forklift 15k Operator License obtained within twelve (12) months of onboarding.
    • Navy Crane Center Category III Crane certification obtained within six (6) months of onboarding.
  • Must obtain INDUS Corporate training, acknowledgments, or other as required.
  • Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
  • The ability to lift items that may weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing such as performing regular shop activities, inspections, or to observe and study operations in an industrial or comparable work area or on-board submarines and in weapon facilities.
  • The ability to operate heavy machinery and industrial tools with limited to no supervision. Examples may include but are not limited to: Electric/Disel Forklift, CNC Milling Machine, Welding/Soldering, CAT III Overhead Crane, pallet jack, "Big Joe" stand-behind pallet lift mechanism, and more.
  • Travel Required ~10% travel required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years of engineering work experience in an industrial, maintenance, and repair environment.
  • 10-15 years of engineering work experience in construction, maintenance, testing, and repair of Medium-sized UUV equipment.
  • 10-15 years of technical report writing and leading investigations to address deficiencies.
  • 10-15 years of CAD drafting and project file management. CAD draft program includes but not limited to Autodesk inventor, Mastercam (preferred).
  • Demonstrates creativity and attention to detail.


INDUS aims to provide a competitive compensation package, including a strong pay for performance rewards approach. The expected base pay range for this position is $55.00. - $70.00 per hour. This position is eligible to participate in our corporate 401(k) and Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) programs, and may be eligible for performance bonuses, and other rewards and benefits (see more about our compensation package and benefits offered at Culture @ INDUS | INDUS Technology). The pay range for this role considers job-related knowledge, skills, work location, education and training, and certifications.
