Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly knowledgeable Atlassian Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead the strategic administration, integration, and optimization of enterprise-level Atlassian tools. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise and leadership experience to ensure scalable, secure, and high-performing deployments of tools such as Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Bamboo across large-scale enterprise environments.

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly knowledgeable Atlassian Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead the strategic administration, integration, and optimization of enterprise-level Atlassian tools. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise and leadership experience to ensure scalable, secure, and high-performing deployments of tools such as Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Bamboo across large-scale enterprise environments.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary expert and advisor for all Atlassian-related tools and solutions within the organization.
- Lead the configuration, administration, and troubleshooting of enterprise Atlassian environments to support mission-critical operations.
- Customize and extend Atlassian platforms to align with organizational workflows and business processes using Jira Automation, REST APIs, custom scripts, and plugins.
- Design and implement integrations with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, authentication services, and other enterprise applications.
- Lead a team of Atlassian administrators, providing guidance, mentorship, and tiered support to ensure stable and optimized tool performance.
- Maintain robust user and permission management, ensuring security, compliance, and best practices are enforced across all instances.
- Monitor tool performance and usage metrics to proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks or user issues.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, DevOps, security, and project management teams to gather requirements and deliver effective tooling solutions.
- Document system configurations, administration protocols, and governance policies.
Education and Experience
- 7+ years of hands-on experience with Atlassian tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo) in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
Required Skills
- 5+ years managing and customizing enterprise-level Atlassian deployments, with a strong understanding of scalability, performance optimization, and enterprise best practices.
- Proven experience in integrating Atlassian tools with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and other enterprise IT systems.
- Proficiency in automating Atlassian workflows and processes using Jira Automation, REST APIs, and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Groovy, or Shell).
- 2+ years of experience leading a team and providing operational support, including user management, permissions, and configurations.
- Strong knowledge of IT service management (ITSM), agile methodologies, and DevOps principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Desired Skills
- Atlassian certifications (e.g., Atlassian Certified Jira Administrator, Jira Service Management Administrator) a plus.
- Experience working in highly regulated environments (e.g., government, healthcare, finance) is beneficial.
- Familiarity with containerization and cloud deployment (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
