DESCRIPTION

The U.S. Amazon Dedicated Cloud Security team seeks a passionate and innovative Security Engineer with a strong security and development background to deliver Information Security solutions.

As a Security Engineer, you will investigate, identify, and mitigate security risks throughout the porfolio of programs within the Information Security organization and among peer organizations. You will define and execute both short-term and long-term strategies to deliver risk reduction mechanisms, particularly around reducing labor-intensive processes. You will work closely with stakeholder teams to gain deep insights into their systems and processes, and integrate security engineering practices into their workflows. You will help drive engineering excellence through scalable and repeatable solutions, clean code, automation, thorough documentation, and approaches that eliminate single points of failure.

Your impact will be critical in helping AWS maintain top-tier security by driving teams to deliver more effectively and securely through secure designs and automation. You'll focus on identifying security trends, enhancing security visibility, and recommending improvements to raise our security bar.

This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

Key job responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with Information Security teams to identify opportunities to improve the overall security posture.
- Develop threat models that impact Information Security areas, and develop detections and mitigations to reduce security risks.
- Partner with engineering teams across AWS Security to develop scalable solutions to security problems.
- Develop tooling to automate labor-intensitve processes within Information Security.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of programming in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++ or similar object oriented language experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 3+ years of programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Go, Java, .Net, C++, Rust, or similar.
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 2+ years of any combination of the following: threat modeling experience, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration and network security experience
- Experience with AWS products and services
- Deep understanding of software development and deployment practices - feature branch management strategies, continuous integration, continuous delivery, software observability, and metering.
- Experience with secure application development - static application security testing, dynamic application security testing, vulnerability scanning and mitigation.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
