Education: Must hold DoD 8570 IAT Level II (e.g. Security+)

Salary: $110,000-$155,000

Description: This role supports a DoD program at Hanover, MD. On-site presence: 35%, Travel: 0%, On-call: 0%.

We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Software Engineer to join our team. As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complex software capabilities for computer-based systems. Will work closely with other talented engineers to create software solutions that meet the needs of our clients. Work is a hybrid role out of our Enlighten location in Columbia, MD with some work on customer site in Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.

Required Skills

  • Security Clearance - Must have a current Secret level U.S. Government security clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
  • 9+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Modern Java Frameworks and Libraries (e.g. Spring, Guava) with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in designing enterprise APIs.
  • Experience in RESTful web services.
  • Experience in Microservices architecture.
  • Experience in Object Oriented Programming (OOP) paradigms.
  • Experience with the agile software lifecycle.
  • Has a proven ability to learn quickly and works well both independently as well as in a team setting.
  • Experience with the Linux operating system.
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Git, Nexus, Maven).
  • DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certifications is required as directed by the customer.
  • Must be able to work on on average 1-2 days a week in our Columbia, MD office along with some work on customer site in Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. Flexibility is key.


Desired Skills

  • Experience with NOSQL databases such as Accumulo desired OR experience querying and optimizing SQL databases.
  • Prior Experience supporting cyber and/or network security operations within a large enterprise, as either an analyst, engineer, architect, or developer.
  • Experience in cloud based technologies (AWS, Azure).
  • Scripting experience is a huge plus.
  • Prior experience or familiarity with our Big Data Platform is a plus.
  • Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites. (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Github Enterprise, etc.)
