As a Cloud Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure, as well as ensuring the availability, performance, and security of our cloud environment. With minimal direction, provide support, analysis and research into exceptionally complex problems and processes relating to the subject matter. Serve as technical expert on executive-level project teams providing technical direction, interpretation, and alternatives. Think independently and demonstrate exceptional written and oral communications skills. Apply extensive technical expertise and have full knowledge of other related disciplines. Guide the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role. Develop technical solutions to complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Possess expertise is in a particular area of Information Technology (e.g., Information Systems Architecture, Telecommunications Systems Design, Architecture, Implementation, Information Systems Integration, Software Development Methodologies, Security Engineering, Communications and Network Systems Management).
How the Cloud Network Engineer will make an impact:
Planning, performing, and documenting laboratory assessments of hardware and software for both the classified and unclassified DISN Services to ensure proper connectivity and operations between the DLA WAN, the DLA's NOC, and DISA's NOCs.
Coordinating with the government customer to create a Technology Assessment Plan (TAP) to include the objectives, scope, equipment and configurations, technical approach, procedures, schedules, and roles and responsibilities required to complete the DLA LAN technology refresh and upgrades. These assessments may include independent cost estimates.
Preparing After Action Reports (AAR) that document the approach taken, results, recommendations and supporting rationale.
Identifying new and emerging network capabilities as well as developing product evaluation and selection criteria.
Developing system evaluations methods and procedures.
Producing formal documentation of recommendations for executive briefings.
Ensuring interoperability between DLA WAN and DISN network equipment and services.
Planning and tracking of implementation tasks.
Extensive experience with enterprise network design and sustainment, to include routing, switching, data center, and cloud technology areas.
Creating necessary supporting configuration artifacts such as network maps, detailed designs, test plans, operations readiness test reports, device configurations, and maintenance processes and procedures.
Providing Subject Matter Expert (SME) engineering services to the government customer.
What you’ll need to succeed (Required Qualifications):
Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years of experience required. An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
Active Secret security clearance with current SSBI or active Secret with the ability to obtain SSBI required.
DoD 8570 IAT Level III certification required.
Cisco Certified Network Professional Enterprise (CCNP-E) certification required or higher.
CheckPoint Certified Security Administrator (CCSA) certification required. Candidates who do not currently possess CCSA will be required to obtain certification within 6 months of hire date.
Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS and/or Cloud.
Familiarity in a DoD Hosted Cloud Environment with expert level experience working with cloud native technologies.
Strong background in cloud computing and a deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, cloud deployment models, and cloud security.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications applicable to this role include Azure Fundamentals, AWS Cloud Practitioner, Comp TIA Cloud+, Check Point Certified Security Expert (CCSE), Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert -Enterprise Infrastructure (CCIE-EI), CheckPoint Certified Security Administrator (CCSA).
