TCS is seeking a skilled Technical Writer II to support a NAVAIR customer at NSWC Crane. This position focuses on creating, editing, and formatting a range of technical documentation and instructional content that complies with established military and industry standards. The successful candidate will support engineering and logistics teams by translating complex technical information into clear, structured documentation.

Job Summary:
TCS is seeking a skilled Technical Writer II to support a NAVAIR customer at NSWC Crane. This position focuses on creating, editing, and formatting a range of technical documentation and instructional content that complies with established military and industry standards. The successful candidate will support engineering and logistics teams by translating complex technical information into clear, structured documentation.
Essential Functions:
- Develop clear, accurate documentation such as technical manuals, curriculum, SOPs, and guidance materials.
- Ensure documentation meets customer standards, style guides, and usability needs.
- Research, organize, and prepare technical information from various sources.
- Edit and proof technical documentation for clarity, accuracy, consistency, and compliance with specifications.
- Perform desktop publishing including formatting, layout, tables, and structured content.
- Create and manipulate graphics, charts, diagrams, and flowcharts for inclusion in documentation.
- Support documentation validation/verification events and participate in customer and internal meetings.
- Maintain documentation records and support administrative tasks such as meeting minutes and file management.
- Interface with technical writers, multimedia staff, engineers, and government representatives.
- Associate's degree in a related field and 5+ years of relevant experience (additional experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree).
- Proficient with Arbortext Editor, XML schema, and structured data/documentation.
- Desktop publishing proficiency including tables, graphics, diagrams, and layout.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel, Visio, Project).
- Proficient with Adobe Acrobat and experience with Adobe FrameMaker, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Knowledge of DoD standards such as MIL-STD-3001, MIL-STD-40051, MIL-STD-38784, and S1000D.
- Experience working in a DoD/defense documentation environment.
- Ability to understand, interpret, and synthesize engineering drawings and data.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
- Active Secret clearance.
- Familiarity with GPO Style Manual, IADS, PDF-XChange Editor.
- Experience with ASD-STE100 (Simplified Technical English).
- Knowledge of provisioning data and configuration management processes.
- Experience with TPDRs, IRACS, and Navy/Marine systems such as NATEC, JDMICS, JDRS, and IPDM.
- Ability to work on-site in a professional and collaborative team environment.
- Must pass all required background and security screenings.
