Job Description:
We are seeking a VMware Engineer with extensive experience architecting, deploying, and supporting VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) in large-scale, mission-critical environments. This position is pivotal in leading the modernization and transformation of secure cloud infrastructures for U.S. Government customers, including Department of Defense and Intelligence Community agencies. As a VMware Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing complex VCF solutions that incorporate best-in-class practices for security, automation, and scalability across on-premises and hybrid environments.

We are seeking a VMware Engineer with extensive experience architecting, deploying, and supporting VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) in large-scale, mission-critical environments. This position is pivotal in leading the modernization and transformation of secure cloud infrastructures for U.S. Government customers, including Department of Defense and Intelligence Community agencies. As a VMware Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing complex VCF solutions that incorporate best-in-class practices for security, automation, and scalability across on-premises and hybrid environments.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Serve as the technical lead for the planning, design, and full lifecycle deployment of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) platforms.
- Engineer vSphere, vSAN, NSX-T, and SDDC Manager components to support multi-tenant cloud services.
- Architect and execute automated deployment of blueprints using tools such as vRealize Automation, PowerCLI, and Ansible.
- Integrate VCF with existing enterprise IT services, including Active Directory, DNS, firewalls, and monitoring systems.
- Establish and enforce security baselines in compliance with DoD STIGs, RMF, and Zero Trust Architecture guidelines.
- Lead technical design reviews, risk assessments, and mitigation strategy planning.
- Provide technical mentorship to engineering staff and interface directly with stakeholders and customer leadership when appropriate.
- Document detailed infrastructure architectures, SOPs, and operational handbooks.
Requirements:
- Bachelors and 18 years or more experience (4 years of equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree) in IT experience.
- DoD 8570 Baseline Security Certification for an IAT level 2 (Security+CE). and VMware Certified Professional (VCP) - Data Center Virtualization.
- Minimum of 10+ years of hands-on IT engineering experience, with 5+ years specializing in VMware technologies.
- 3+ years of direct VCP deployment experience including SDDC Manager lifecycle automation.
- Deep knowledge of NSX-T micro-segmentation, vSAN stretch clusters, and hybrid cloud integration.
- Strong understanding of VMware Validated Designs (VVD) and VMware Cloud Foundation 4.x/5.x frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience supporting secure / air-gapped environments.
- Proficiency with scripting and automation using PowerCLI, Python, or Bash.
- Must possess an active Secret clearance
