Program Overview

Performs important mission in the DOD and that is deterrence of weapons of mass destruction, nuclear weapons, etc. Systems Engineers/Admins, DBA's, Release Engingeers, Data Scientists, Cyber Defense, and Service Desk collaborate together to ensure comprehensive mission success

About The Role

Peraton is hiring a Network Administration, Senior Associate to work at USSTRATCOM - Offutt AFB, Nebraska.

What you will do:

The Network Specialist Journeyman assists in troubleshooting, isolating, resolving network system issues, and helps improve the network, when necessary. Installs, configures, services, repairs, and maintains hardware and software for network services, storage and network devices, and server systems. Understands integration of multiple information systems in local and dispersed networked environments. Aids in resolving customers' information system problems. Member of the team to implement required hardware upgrades and in the repair inoperative devices to maintain mission capability. Works with teammates to install and configure hubs, routers, switches, and server systems software. Ensures the proper installation and configuration of workstation hardware and software for efficient operation on various physical and wireless networks. Journeymen primary focus is to gain proficiency in monitoring and maintaining network devices, environmental control appliances, and server systems.

Essential Job Functions:

Support a 24/7/365 network watch position by monitoring, logging, troubleshooting and coordinating fix actions with the USSTRATCOM Cyber Operations Center team, other lines of service, and vendor support to maintain communications across multiple networks.

Candidate must be able to:

• Perform watch, providing 24x7x365 monitoring of the USSTRATCOM networks

• Work rotating schedules and report to work during non-business hours for emergency situations

• Work independently for extended durations

• Continuously monitor several tools and report network incidents and threats in real time

• Provide recommendations to improve network performance, redundancy, and resiliency

• Monitor environmental status of data centers and information technology equipment rooms, utilizing various tools and methods such as vRealize Operations, Web Control, Email, and others

• Provide technical guidance for monitoring information systems operations

• Perform routine testing and troubleshooting of network performance issues

• Monitor, if applicable, respond to technical control facility hardware and software problems. Interface with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance

• Become proficient in utilizing software and hardware tools to identify and diagnose problems and factors affecting network performance

• Operate, maintain, and administer network components to meet operational, availability, and mission requirements

• Perform escort duties to sensitive areas and provide infrastructure support to include pulling, splicing, installing, terminating, and troubleshooting copper and fiber

• Complete electronic documentation of all work completed and update cable layouts for all networks

Qualifications

What you will need:

2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years of relevant work experience with no degree

Required Certifications:

• DoD 8570 Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSP) -Infrastructure certification

Security Clearance:

•Top Secret/SCI

Desired Certifications:

• CompTIA Security +

• CompTIA Network +

• Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) foundation

SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range

Details

Target Salary Range: $66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
