Introduction:
We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join our team and oversee all technical aspects of the ORBIT project. This role will focus on the effective operations and health of the Appian environments provisioned for ORBIT, ensuring adherence to industry best practices, development standards, and supporting DEVOPS tools utilized by the project. As a key member of our team, you will play an integral role in providing strategic oversight and technical management across all ORBIT-related initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Management & Oversight:
Manage and oversee the technical aspects of the ORBIT service delivery.
Ensure the effective operation and system health of the Appian environments provisioned to the ORBIT project.
Maintain adherence to industry best practices and development standards.
DEVOPS Tools Support:
Oversee and support DEVOPS tools provided by the MDA Office of the CIO (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
Support and monitor DEVOPS tools utilized within the ORBIT environment itself (e.g., release management, health monitoring, admin and operations consoles).
Platform Health Monitoring:
Provide platform health monitoring services, assessing and reporting on the status of ORBIT infrastructure, configuration settings, design elements, and user experience.
Utilize Appian’s health monitoring solutions to ensure platform reliability.
Provide health check data and analysis in connection with all major software updates and routine project office reviews/briefings.
Project Oversight & Coordination:
Oversee ORBIT project progress and manage timelines, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives.
Coordinate Contractor resources across all products within the ORBIT environment.
Provide regular status updates, progress data, and risk assessments related to the ORBIT environment.
Data Architecture Evaluation:
Review and evaluate data architecture across functional applications to identify redundancies or conflicts in authoritative data sources.
Coordinate with product teams to resolve identified issues and ensure alignment with overall project goals.
Technical Expertise & Support:
Provide technical expertise to support solution development best practices and assist with issue resolution related to Appian core features/functions.
Advise product teams on the appropriate utilization of Appian capabilities, ensuring alignment with MDA’s processes, policies, and procedures.
Subject Matter Expertise:
Provide subject matter expertise to MDA functional managers on potential Appian-based solutions for emerging requirements.
Stay up to date with new Appian capabilities and industry trends to ensure cutting-edge technical solutions.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in technical management and service delivery oversight in a complex IT environment.
Extensive experience with Appian platforms and related tools, with a deep understanding of Appian health monitoring solutions.
Strong familiarity with DEVOPS tools such as Jira, Confluence, and others used within the ORBIT environment.
Experience in data architecture review, identification of redundancies, and conflict resolution across functional applications.
Expertise in solution development best practices and troubleshooting of Appian core features/functions.
Strong understanding of MDA’s processes, policies, and standard procedures as they relate to Appian solutions.
Excellent project management skills, including timeline management, resource coordination, and risk assessment.
Strong communication skills, capable of providing regular updates to stakeholders and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience working with the MDA (Missile Defense Agency) or similar government agencies.
Relevant certifications in Appian and/or project management (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma).
Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and other relevant tools for workflow management.
