Description
The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos currently pursuing a new opportunity that has openings for an Human Factors Engineer to work in Fayetteville, NC. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Enterprise Development, Application, and Training (EDAT) mission. In this mission we are focused on providing innovative, data-driven solutions and enterprise architecture enhancements to enable seamless operations across USSOCOM's global network. The program emphasizes rapid development and deployment of technologies to enhance the mobility and readiness of Special Operations Forces (SOF) in both combat and non-combat scenarios. Key tasks include program management, application development, training support, and technology integration to maintain USSOCOM's operational edge. The EDAT program underscores agility and adaptability, ensuring SOF professionals have access to the information and tools they need to meet evolving mission requirements

Primary Responsibilities.
- Design and implement responsive, user-friendly interfaces based on detailed specifications and user feedback.
- Develop wireframes, prototypes, and design mockups that translate into functional web pages or mobile application interfaces.
- Work closely with designers, developers, and product managers to ensure alignment of user interfaces with technical and operational requirements.
- Ensure all UI/UX components are fully integrated with backend services and meet performance and security standards.
- Conduct usability testing and interface validation to identify and resolve usability issues, performance bottlenecks, and accessibility concerns.
- Apply human-centered design principles to continuously improve user experience.
- Ensure all UI/UX development activities adhere to DoD security standards, including RMF, NIST 800-53, and relevant accessibility (e.g., Section 508) guidelines.
- Protect sensitive user data and contribute to the secure implementation of system components.
- Document design decisions, user feedback, and development processes to support future enhancements and knowledge sharing.
- Provide regular updates to leadership on development progress, risks, and recommendations for improvement.
- Research and recommend new tools, frameworks, and best practices to optimize user interface development.
- Stay up to date on emerging design trends, accessibility standards, and front-end development technologies.
Basic Qualifications.
- BS degree in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Computer Science, Graphic Design, or a related field with 4-8 years of experience in user interface design, human factors engineering, or front-end development. Or a MS degree with 2-6 years of experience. 12 years of experience in lieu of degree.
- Must possess an active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- Experience working on Agile development teams and familiarity with DevSecOps environments.
- Proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and responsive frameworks (e.g., Bootstrap, React, or Angular).
- Familiarity with design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch).
- Understanding of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1, Section 508).
Preferred Qualifications.
- MS degree in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Computer Science, Graphic Design, or a related field with 2-6 years of experience in user interface design, human factors engineering, or front-end development.
- Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC), UX Certification (NN/g), or equivalent.
- Previous experience designing for classified or mission-critical DoD systems, especially in support of USSOCOM or related programs.
- Experience integrating UI/UX components into secure backend architectures and web services.
- Knowledge of secure coding practices and familiarity with RMF-compliant software development.
- Ability to conduct user research, behavioral analysis, and usability studies in operational environments.
