Country Intelligence Group is seeking a Resident Network Engineer to support Information Technology Service Management (ITSM), Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Cybersecurity Services (C4S), and Passive Optical Network (PON) infrastructure within a secure C4 environment at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

This position requires hands-on experience with Optical Local Area Network (LAN) systems, strong diagnostic and mentoring abilities, and familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) secure networks including Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet), Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet), and LAN/Wide Area Network/Metropolitan Area Network (LAN/WAN/MAN) systems.

The selected candidate will interface with both on-site and remote systems, provide technical leadership, and support network lifecycle operations in a mission-driven environment.


Tasks Performed:

• Provide day-to-day technical support and knowledge transfer to local network engineering teams

• Support all phases of the network lifecycle, including integration, technical evaluation, planning, and operations

• Manage system initialization, implement Virtual LANs (VLANs), provision service profiles, and perform PON infrastructure testing and turn-up

• Install and maintain Panorama PON software and oversee database backup procedures

• Coordinate software updates, upgrades, and scheduled maintenance windows

• Serve as the primary escalation point for operational issues, working directly with Tellabs Technical Assistance Center (TAC) and engineering teams

• Log, track, and resolve support tickets, manage Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes, and document resolution outcomes

• Coordinate with third-party vendors to assist in technical resolution efforts

• Mentor junior staff and assist with developing job aids, processes, and informal training

• Provide hands-on support for moves, adds, and changes (MACs) within the network infrastructure


Education, Experience and Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Unix/Linux command-line environments

• Experience using Wireshark and TCPdump for packet analysis and network troubleshooting

• Skilled in the installation and administration of Tellabs PON systems

• Experience with ticketing systems and vendor escalation procedures

• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or Juniper Networks certifications are a plus (training may be provided based on need)

• Tellabs Optical LAN Certified Engineer (preferred)

• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities

• Ability to explain technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Demonstrated experience mentoring and supporting junior personnel

• Ability to work independently in a dynamic, mission-focused environment


Other Job Requirements:

• Minimum Active Top Secret with eligibility to obtain SCI

• U.S. Citizenship, and successful background check
