GDIT has an exciting opportunity available for a HVAC Generator Mechanic maintaining Tactical/Commercial generators and HVAC systems in Guam. Successful applicant must have an active U.S. Government issued SECRET clearance, a valid passport, and be a self-starter. Not only is this position responsible for maintaining and servicing generators and ECUs, but will also have ownership of creating and updating work orders in GCSS-Army, securing and maintaining a parts stock, some procurement actions, and shipping and receiving functions. The individual selected for this position must excel at detail work, be very flexible, responsible, organized, good with generating reports, and able to prioritize tasks. While this is the only position on the Worldwide Field Support contract in Guam at the moment, support will be provided by the team in Korea to ensure success. 25-30% of the work will be logistics related and the rest will be supporting equipment repairs. The standard workweek is 40 hours, but there will be up to 20% overtime required on an as-needed basis.
How the HVAC Generator Mechanic will make an impact:
• Perform maintenance and sustainment on 3kW to 150kW, 50\60\400hz generators involving installation and removal of generators from fixed and mobile locations, troubleshoots and rebuilds engines, alternating current (AC) systems, direct current (DC) systems, electronic control systems and other program logic controls, electrical wiring and accessories.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, Chillers, and Environmental Control Units - some are standalone units and others are mounted on trailers and vehicles.
• Maintain all types of commercial power generation equipment; military spec generators and Uninterrupted Power Systems (UPS).
• Rebuild and repair generator engines, head gaskets, seals, water pumps, fuel pumps, torque heads, belts and hoses.
• Test batteries, fuel and coolant.
• Use precision test equipment including various electrical meters, micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Some work will be in a shop environment and some work will be in a field environment.
• Setup and organize the worksite.
• Secure the worksite in the event of a typhoon.
• Create and maintain work orders in GCSS-Army and transact material movements.
• Secure and maintain repair parts, tools, and equipment.
• Purchase materials using the approved procurement process.
• Ship and receive materials.
• Other duties as assigned.
What you'll need to be successful:
• Able to lift and carry 75 pounds.
• A valid US state driver's license.
• Experience driving a forklift.
• Environmental Protection Agency EPA 608 Universal certificate.
• Knowledgeable of generator parallel systems and switch gear.
• Experience using databases/data entry systems and proficient with Microsoft Excel.
• BA/BS plus 2 years' experience, AA/AS/plus 4 years' experience, or a High School diploma and 7 years' experience.
• Must have and be able to maintain a U.S. Government SECRET clearance.
• US passport must not expire for at least 2 years.
