GAS TURBINE ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN (GSE)
The GBS Group has an exciting opportunity for Gas Turbine Electrical Technician (GSE). As a Gas Turbine Electrical Technician (GSE) with GBS, you will work both independently and with a team of designers and engineers on complex projects related to Naval ship platforms. The position will assist in the development, design, and troubleshooting of Gas Turbine Electrical and control systems aboard US Naval Vessels., This will include Direct onsite support, system support and operational demonstration, lab testing and trials, troubleshooting, installation support and coordination. Direct training of ships personnel and support staff and life cycle support functions will be accomplished.
This position will also contribute real value by assisting other engineers and ships forces with various gas turbine electrical system issues for U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, Army and Military Sealift Ships supported by the U.S. Navy.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Experience in troubleshooting shipboard electrical and control system equipment.
- Utilize test equipment and instrumentation in the troubleshooting and repair of GSE control systems.
- Utilization of Navy assessment programs, planning visits to include all required processes and providing detailed reporting of such visits.
- Experience with Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS) and Engineering Operational Sequencing Systems (EOSS).
- Utilize Microsoft office to develop trip reports and document finding and required repairs. Document hardware with digital photography.
- Ability to locate and trace circuit faults, replace parts, measure currents, voltages and resistances, test systems for shorts, ground and continuity, test protect circuitry and test and service field sensors.
- Knowledge of intermediate maintenance on electrical components of gas turbine engines, main propulsion machinery, auxiliary equipment, control systems, printed circuit and alarm systems.
- Interact with team members and subject matter experts to investigate problems and propose solutions.
- Work with system blueprints, schematics and cut sheets to perform system repairs and document. Provide ships force with training to assist in system readiness and proper operational awareness.
- Actively participate in meetings and track and report status of assigned work.
- Ability to travel up to 25% including possible ships underway and OCONUS..
Qualifications/Requirements:
Candidates for this position must possess the following professional
experience and qualifications:
- Current working knowledge of U.S. Navy machinery control systems (MCS) and Machinery control system suites (MCSS).
- GSE rating or equivalent experience
- UPS system knowledge
- Ability to work in a test lab environment
- Technical systems support for INSURV/TSRA inspections
- Ability to troubleshoot propulsion and auxiliary control system equipment to include transducers, RTE's, Thermocouples, signal conditioners, PLC's, and PC based control systems.
Physical / Mental Requirements
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, lift a minimum of 50lbs and walk up and down stairs numerous times.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and in extreme temperatures.
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the (Naval/ Maritime) facility or ship
- Must be able to squat, lift, stretch, and bend in order to reach all areas of the facility.
- Must be able to work in and on overhead structures, as well as below machinery.
- Requires kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
- Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Basic and advanced math computational skills.
- Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
