Software Systems Engineer

Location: Remote

Clearance: DoD Secret

The Software Systems Engineer is responsible for designing and developing a robust, scalable platform built on defense-in-depth and zero trust principles, aligned with enterprise policy, mission, and technical requirements. This role focuses on integrating and managing identity governance using the Saviynt identity management platform. The engineer will translate user and application needs into actionable system and integration guidance, working closely with a team of certified system engineers. The role demands expertise in modern system/software development techniques, leading-edge technologies, and comprehensive technical planning and management to ensure the platform's integrity across hardware, software, and network environments.

In this role, the Software Systems Engineer will also provide critical support for Enterprise Business Systems, including disaster recovery, reporting, and performance testing. The engineer will ensure agility in implementing new technology insertions, particularly in identity governance, while maintaining processes across production, COOP, and T&D environments. The position requires high-level architectural expertise to advise managers and technical staff, develop architectural products, and set standards for client/server relational database structures. Additionally, the engineer will evaluate the feasibility of potential projects, with a strong focus on identity governance and zero trust security frameworks.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Manage and configure Saviynt to meet organizational identity governance requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the Saviynt platform to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform regular audits and assessments of the Saviynt environment to ensure compliance and security.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Saviynt with other enterprise systems and applications.
  • Design and develop a scalable, secure platform with a focus on defense-in-depth and zero trust principles.
  • Translate user and application requirements into system and integration guidance for engineering teams.
  • Conduct hardware sizing, performance evaluations, upgradeability reviews, and benchmarking.
  • Provide technical planning and management across hardware, software, and network platforms.
  • Support Enterprise Business Systems, including disaster recovery, reporting, and performance testing.
  • Implement new technology insertions and maintain processes across production, COOP, and Test/Dev environments.
  • Advise on client/server relational database structure standards (MySQL).
  • Evaluate new and existing software products, focusing on identity management and zero trust security.
  • Develop architectural products and deliverables for enterprise and operational business lines.
  • Advise management on the feasibility of potential future projects, with an emphasis on identity governance and zero trust principles.
  • Work may include the occasional afterhours and/or weekend work based on mission priorities.

Minimum Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree with five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Five (5) years of progressive experience in the field of Government IT, with two (2) of which are specialized in concentrated, hands-on experience in installing, configuring, maintaining, and resolving issues with identity governance platforms.
  • Two (2) years of experience working in Agile development environment
  • Hands-on relevant experience with Saviynt preferred •

Additional Qualifications:
  • DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certification: Category IAT Level II: CompTIA Security+ Certification, or greater;
  • Relevant identity management certification (SailPoint, Saviynt, Azure (Entra), Red seal, etc.)
  • Experience using scripting or basic programming skills to solve problems.
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., TFS, GitHub, Chef, Ansible, Salt, LVM).
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., LXC, Docker, Rocket, OpenShift).
