James Scott LLC is actively seeking Mid, Sr., and SME level Spectral Scientist for one of its top tier clients that possesses robust experience in Atmospheric Research to support a large research and development mission that primarily focuses on providing intelligence analysis for the benefit of the Intel Community within Department of Defense.
Responsibilities
• Primary area of responsibility will be to research, develop, and implement algorithms into functional software tools and plugins for hyperspectral data
• Perform research on radiative transfer theory as it applies to atmospheric correction for hyperspectral data
• Play a critical role in designing, developing or enhancing, and implementing cutting-edge software tools and algorithms for hyperspectral data processing
• Work with atmospheric correction techniques, including QUAC, QUAC-LSP, FLAASH, and others, to enhance and validate results across multiple algorithms
• Collaborate with a highly skilled team is key, as you will contribute to tools used across the analytic community and ensure their accuracy and effectiveness
• Conduct research on radiative transfer theory as it applies to atmospheric correction for hyperspectral data
• Implementation of software tools and platforms utilizing Python, C++, or ENVI/IDL
• Design and refine target detection algorithms, applying your understanding of physics and spectral phenomenology
• Develop and implement new software tools and techniques for data processing, calibration, and atmospheric correction
• Build or enhance, test, and validate software tools to ensure performance and accuracy
• Document your work in software deliverables with proper technical documentation
• Present your research, methodologies, and findings to different audiences
• Collaborate with teams across the Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) to effectively integrate tools and solutions
Qualifications
• Possess an active TS/SCI Security Clearance with Poly
• Past demonstrated experience with atmospheric correction techniques, such as QUAC-LSP, FLAASH, or QUAC
• Seasoned programming skills in Python and ENVI/IDL
• Background in remote sensing techniques, with hyperspectral image processing technique and data calibration
• Demonstrated experience developing tools for hyperspectral data analysis
• Ability to process, exploit, and disseminate analytical results containing multidimensional arrays of scientific data
• Minimum BA or BS degree or higher for the more senior levels
• Level of experience and degree will determine level of placement
