Are you interested in being part of an amazing team and support NCIS’s mission? We are looking for a MS SQL Server Database Administrator to join our team in Quantico. You will be part of the operations and maintenance team, in support of critical applications used by the law enforcement and intelligence communities. As a MS SQL Server Database Administrator, you will be in charge of enterprise-wide databases that support our customer’s COTS applications across different enclaves. You will work alongside with our team of system administrators managing MS Servers 2016 and higher, desktops, and printers; ensuring availability of services, security compliance of mandatory requirements, operational and performance improvements, and backup and recovery procedures. REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS:
• 5+ years of experience with MS SQL Server database administration and IT Operations
• BS Degree in IT Studies or Computer Science or 4 additional years of work experience in lieu of degree
• MS SQL Server 2012-2019 database administration
• Performance Tuning
• Backup & Recovery
• Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
• Excellent OS and Database troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)
• Experience with Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption in SQL Server
• Create, maintain and manage backups
• Working knowledge of database restoration and recoverability
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• System administration and systems integration concepts (in relation to MS SQL Server installations)
• STIG checklist review process, remediation of vulnerabilities, and implementation of changes
• Perform ACAS and SCAP scans and remediation
• Assist Tier 2 help desk with issues elevated to system administrators
• Create and update user accounts, perform account management in Active Directory
• Create all documentation required for Release Management Framework (RMF)
• SSIS and PowerBI Reporting Server Administration
• Complete planning and documentation prior to new integration or implementation
• Certifications: COMPTIA Security+ CE
• U.S. Citizenship required

DUTIES:
• Maintain and monitor existing MS SQL Server 2016-2019 installations and databases.
• Provide professional guidance to scale up, design, and plan new database installations, including access methods, access time, batch processes, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security.
• Monitor, maintain, coordinate and improve hardware and software resources such as RAM, CPU, storage, etc.
• Identify, study, and apply patches, software releases, and system upgrades.
• Evaluate and apply STIGs.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with customer and other team members.
• Produce documentation and SOPs.
• Upgrade MS SQL Server installations to higher versions.
• Monitor and correct space utilization, performance, connectivity, and other related issues.
• Assist with OS patching of Windows servers.
• Perform scheduled and nonscheduled database backups and recovery with Microsoft SQL Server SSMS, or SQL CMD.
• Produce back and recovery documentation.
• Familiar with SQL Always-on setup and management and Microsoft Failover Clustering.
• Automate processes.
• Assist developers with code review as needed.
• Attend to configuration and installation meetings, new technology implementation meetings, and other meetings that require Database Administration input.
• Provide guidance to leadership with scalability and improvement concepts.
