The Engineer Technician will provides SPAWAR BFTN ISEA reps with on-site waterfront support to BFTN-capable US Navy ships with tech assists, for ADNS and CENTRIX router configuration to support SOVTs. Candidate will provide BFTN support, at sea, during Deploying Group Systems Integration Testing (DGSIT) and BFTN System Operational Testing (SOT) pier-side. Candidate will perform BFTN operational and maintenance duties in the BFTN lab. Candidate will assist BFTN SOVT efforts, and load operational software upgrades. Candidate will have knowledge in shipboard electronic systems installation procedures and be able wire connectors, and perform continuity checks. Share rotating duties for the BFTN Help Desk. Candidate will perform Acceptance Tests in the BFTN Lab of new OEM BFTN suites. Candidate will be required to go to sea up to 10 days at a time and be able bodied to perform on-board US navy ships in an industrial environment and at sea.
This position requires a self starter who understands shipboard US Navy Networks, ADNS and CENTRIX. The position supports the Battle Force Tactical Network(BFTN) In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA). The candidate should be knowledgeable and methodical in troubleshooting and fault isolation techniques when ADNS and CENTRUIX router configurations impede successful BFTN SOVTS on-board US Navy ships and in the BFTN lab with the aid of technical manuals and maintenance procedures. Candidate must be able to work in a team environment with an established BFTN team with minimum supervision. This position requires strong communication skills, written and verbal, for communicating with government personnel, ship forces, vendors and peers. Duties will include providing BFTN support services for BFTN capable ships, world wide. Position requires occasional travel (15%-20%) CONUS and OCONUS.
Seven (7) to ten (10) years’ experience as a networking technician in a similar field. Ideal candidate will be prior US Navy ET, IT or Radioman with experience with US Navy networks, ADNS networks and CENTRIX networks, systems of systems. Five years of direct BFTN operator and maintenance experience is a significant plus. Ideal candidate will possess a strong background troubleshooting and fault isolation of router systems/networks and components that support C4ISR programs including, cable and electrical connectors, on-board US Navy ships and in a lab environment, and interpreting electronic block wiring diagrams.
