BAE Systems is looking for an Algorithms Research Scientist to join their Dominance Awareness and Sharing research group. Our core technologies include detection, characterization, learning and understanding of signals in the spectrum. The group works on a wide range of research problems that involve sharing of the spectrum, development of new low probability of detection and exploitation communications techniques, and achieving spectrum dominance (including defensive and offensive spectrum maneuvers, tactics and procedures).
We are interested in technologists that understand new and emerging standards (e. g. 4G-5G etc) in both the commercial and military markets, as well as understanding how technologies may be applied to a number of different RF domains, such as spectrum sharing, cognitive communications, radar, electronic warfare (EW), spectrum sensing, and SIGINT.
The DAS research group is part of BAE Systems' Technology Solutions business which is heavily involved in advanced research concepts funded primarily from the various government research labs and organizations, including DARPA, National Spectrum Consortium etc. Members of the group are involved in the entire cycle of research development, from the initial concept development and program shaping with potential customers and new business pursuits through the execution and transition of research concepts to BAE Systems' business areas and products. Team members are typically involved in multiple simultaneous programs with roles including technical leadership, technical development, customer interaction, program management, or new concept development. Most programs involve small teams of principal engineers and academically strong assistant researchers.

This position can be based out of our Merrimack, New Hampshire or Burlington, Massachusetts facilities, though it will require collaboration with staff across our business areas and facilities in the northeast.
Strong experience with mathematical model tools and languages; such as MATLAB, Python, etc.
Experience in being part of a multi-disciplinary project team in research or development
Strong and confident communication/presentation skills
Eligible for a government security clearance (will be subject to a government security investigation). Current clearance preferred.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Math, Signal Processing, Machine Learning, or similar field or a Master's Degree & 8+ years of relevant demonstrated technical research.
Strength in machine learning, signal processing, optimization detection & estimation, stochastic systems, applied statistics, and/or control
Prior experience working with RF systems: radar, EW, Comms, etc.
