Raytheon Applied Signal Technology (RAST) in Sunnyvale, CA, has a need for a Software Development Engineer to design, build, and maintain software products and applications. These products/applications are part of advanced high capacity systems that process modern communications signals for the US intelligence community.
The successful candidate is a self-starter, has excellent written and verbal communication skills, and works effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.He/she has a strong work ethic and is flexible and adaptable in order to respond to mission-critical needs as they arise. On occasion, he/she may need to work beyond the conventional business hours of 8am-5pm and/or travel to perform work at customer facilities. The candidate may have direct interaction with customers and must represent the company in a professional manner.
·BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
·4+ years’ experience in software application development using C++ or Java with object oriented design on Linux platform
·Working knowledge and understanding of all phases of software development life cycle
·Effective communication skills (i.e. Oral, Written & interpersonal)
·Ability and willingness to work collaboratively on multi-discipline teams
·Active Top Secret clearance
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment
·MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
·Experience in front and/or back end user interface application development
·Practical experience in all phases of software development life cycle including estimation, requirements gathering, design and test driven development
·Experience with build and test automation, continuous integration, and software configuration management tools
·Experience with scripting in Python, Perl, and Linux shell
·Application development experience using Qt
·Knowledge and experience with sockets, TCP/IP and secure SSL/SSH communications
·Experience with GNU and Eclipse based tool chains
·Engineering development experience for telecommunications, wireless communications and/or networking products
·Understanding of telecommunications, data communications and/or wireless communications concepts
·Understanding of signal processing fundamentals
·Demonstrated knowledge and experience of network protocols such as TCP/IP
