Project Details: DoD Data Center
Tech Stacks: Blended environment of Unix, Solaris, Linux, Red Hat Linux, HP-UX, CentOS
Environment: Data Center environment, Secret level facility
Team: Existing senior team with multiple specialties and silo's to support niche customer needs

Key Requirements: Active Interim Secret or Above Clearance, Ability to obtain currently Security + or other 8570 compliance, Computing Environment Certification (RHEL, Solaris, Linux+, etc)
Responsibilities of Unix System Administrator
Manage, maintain, deploy, troubleshoot and support servers for a mixed customer environment
This position will plan, execute and implement new system hardware and software and create and maintain team technical instructions, operating procedures and policies as needed
This position will need to be adept at monitoring and tuning system performance, ongoing operation of the servers, hardening of the servers and reporting of the overall security and operational status.
The position will also recommend improvements to the enterprise, and manage new software/hardware integrations when required.
The position will need excellent communication and team skills.
This position will provide support towards the lifecycle of a mixed environment of vendor equipment in the datacenter to include firmware version control and periodic preventive maintenance.
Requirements of Unix Systems Administrator
Experience in shell scripting, patching, and networking concepts (VLANs, routing, firewalls, subnetting)
Familiarity with server virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware), SAN/storage concepts (LUNs, HBAs), logical volume management, NFS, SNMP, sftp, and SMTP
Working knowledge of OS security best practices,
Experience configuring/managing/updating large groups of servers and OS firewall configurations.
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, written and verbal communication abilities. This should include experience in designing, documenting and writing deliverable plans for enterprise implementations using Microsoft Office products such as MS Project and MS Visio.
Candidates must be willing to obtain CompTIA Security+ prior to starting work if not otherwise 8570 compliant--- Apex can provide training & cert discounts to assist with this process.
