Job Description
Strategic Resilience Group (SRG) is seeking an experienced Naval Surface Fire Support (NSFS) Training Specialist to support focused and mobile training, certification, and readiness activities for U.S. Navy Cruiser and Destroyer platforms throughout the Pacific Fleet.
This position is intended for experienced NSFS operators and instructors with direct fleet experience. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating or supervising NSFS-related systems and conducting training in a Navy instructional environment.
Position Responsibilities:
Conduct focused and mobile NSFS training and certification for Cruiser and Destroyer platforms.
Deliver classroom, practical, and watch-station instruction to Fleet Sailors.
Develop, review, update, and maintain NSFS curriculum and course materials.
Prepare and customize lesson plans, instructor guides, learning objectives, and training materials.
Train and evaluate Sailors on applicable NSFS systems, watch stations, and operational functions.
Conduct formal assessments of student and watch-team performance.
Prepare written reports documenting training conducted, areas evaluated, deficiencies identified, and measures of success.
Develop and administer written and performance-based evaluations.
Review course content and training objectives to ensure continued operational relevance.
Support curriculum maintenance, test-item development, instructional-material evaluation, and student counseling.
Coordinate with Fleet personnel and training leadership to ensure training supports current operational requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Naval Surface Fire Support team member.
Experience operating, supervising, or teaching applicable NSFS systems or functions in a journeyman-level environment.
Experience as a Combat Systems Training Team member, operator, or supervisor responsible for training others.
Minimum 1 year of instructor experience in a Navy training environment.
Experience with curriculum maintenance, learning objectives, test development, instructional evaluation, and student performance assessment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates should have experience in one or more of the following areas:
Fire Controlman Track
MK-160 Gun Computer System
MK-86 Gun Fire Control System
5-inch Gun Weapon System
NSFS operations and watchstanding
Gun/fire-control operator or supervisor experience
Operations Specialist Track
Naval Surface Fire Support operations
Paper-chart navigation
Combat Information Center operations
Watch-team coordination and tactical navigation support
Preferred Qualifications
Prior Navy instructor duty
NEC 805A or equivalent formal instructor qualification
Experience conducting Fleet-level mobile training
Experience aboard CG or DDG platforms
Experience supporting formal course reviews and curriculum updates
Strong written and verbal communication skills
