Scope of Work: The Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic (NIWC LANT) Cloud Computing Innovation, Transformation, and Integration (CLOUD CITI) Division is tasked with providing hosting environments and platforms for Navy applications, as well as other DoD and Homeland Security (HLS) applications utilizing both Component Enterprise Data Centers (CEDCs) and Commercial Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) as hosting platforms. As a Cloud Ops Engineer II, you will support the Cloud CITI Cloud Operations IPT by performing foundational system administration and operational tasks across in an AWS cloud environment.
Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain existing AWS infrastructure, including EC2 instances, S3 buckets, VPCs, RDS instances, and other AWS services.
Implement and manage security groups, network access control lists (ACLs), and other security measures to protect cloud infrastructure and data.
Monitor system performance and health using CloudWatch, dashboards, and other monitoring tools. Identify and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and system errors.
Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions such as AWS Backup, snapshots, and Data Lifecycle Manager.
Implement and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline operational tasks and improve efficiency.
Efficiently manage and resolve support tickets in accordance with established Service Level Agreement (SLA) priority levels.
Cultivate and sustain strong professional relationships by consistently providing exceptional customer service.
Stay up-to-date on the latest AWS services, features, and best practices.
Participate in on-call rotation to ensure system availability and address incidents outside of normal business hours.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of technical documentation.
Requirements/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (e.g. Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems)
Must obtain CompTIA Security+ certification or CASP or CISSP
Must obtain a vendor/platform certification such as AWS Cloud Practitioner
Must obtain an Agile Developer certification or Certified Scrum Developer certification
Prefer 3+ years of experience in cloud engineering with focus in AWS
Ability to follow procedures accurately and escalate issues appropriately
Motivated to learn new technologies and grow technical expertise
Strong problem-solving and design skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and customer service skills
Ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Experience working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
Ability to work in a self-guided manner and excellent organizational skills
Must be a US citizen and hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) TOP SECRET Security Clearance
