Senior Wireless Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Sr Wireless Engineer to support a federal defense organization focused on enterprise collaboration, secure communications, & mission-critical network operations. This position is on-site in Washington Navy Yard, DC. The Sr Wireless Engineer will serve as the enterprise-level authority for Aruba wireless environments, responsible for analyzing, architecting, optimizing, & maintaining large-scale wireless infrastructures across geographically dispersed networks. This role requires deep hands-on expertise with Aruba Wireless LAN technologies, including AirWave & Mobility Controllers, as well as strong experience in root cause analysis, enterprise wireless design, performance optimization, and technical leadership in support of secure government operations.

Responsibilities of the Sr Wireless Engineer include:

• Serve as the enterprise Subject Matter Expert for Aruba Wireless LAN technologies across large-scale environments

• Analyze enterprise wireless infrastructure, identify performance issues, and conduct root cause analysis

• Provide architecture guidance and develop scalable, secure wireless network designs and solutions

• Develop and present technical briefings, findings, and recommendations to internal leadership and government stakeholders

• Optimize and fine-tune wireless performance across enterprise environments

• Review and assess existing wireless network configurations and recommend improvements

• Support enterprise wireless strategy, modernization efforts, and technology enhancements

• Participate in customer briefings and serve as the wireless authority in technical discussions

• Collaborate with engineering teams to implement best practices and improve wireless operations

• Train and mentor network engineers to enhance team-wide Aruba wireless expertise

• Support cross-functional knowledge transfer to reduce single points of failure within the team

• Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and design artifacts

• Ensure wireless solutions align with DoD security requirements and operational standards

Qualifications of the Sr Wireless Engineer include:

• Bachelor's Degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

• 10+ years of experience specializing in Aruba Wireless LAN technologies

• Deep expertise with Aruba Wireless, Aruba AirWave, and Aruba Mobility Controllers

• Strong experience with enterprise wireless architecture, design, and solution development

• Proven ability to perform root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and performance optimization

• Experience developing and presenting technical briefings to leadership and customers

• Demonstrated experience mentoring, training, and upskilling engineering teams

• Strong understanding of wireless networking principles, RF design, and enterprise network architecture

• Aruba certification (required)

• IATII certification

• Active Secret Clearance

Compensation for the Sr Wireless Engineer include:

• Salary Range: $95,000 - $100,000 depending on experience
