Job Description
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Obsolescence Management Project Engineer to join an industry leading aerospace and defense organization located in Berkeley, MO. The Senior Obsolescence Management Project Engineer will be responsible for leading Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) initiatives across legacy and next-generation aerospace and defense programs. This role will provide technical leadership for obsolescence forecasting, mitigation planning, alternate component evaluation, and project execution supporting aircraft, weapons systems, and advanced technologies.
Responsibilities for the Senior Obsolescence Management Project Engineer Include:
• Lead obsolescence management and DMSMS initiatives supporting multiple aerospace and defense programs.
• Apply engineering expertise in electrical and electronic components to evaluate alternate replacements for obsolete parts.
• Conduct proactive obsolescence forecasting and monitoring utilizing predictive obsolescence tools, supplier surveys, component surveillance systems, and industry databases.
• Develop obsolescence mitigation strategies, business case analyses, and recommended resolution plans to support program objectives.
• Support the preparation of customer deliverables, program plans, status reports, and contractual documentation.
• Manage obsolescence mitigation activities within Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) while coordinating with engineering, supply chain, and program management stakeholders.
• Analyze aircraft and weapons system requirements to recommend new and alternate electrical components for both production and development programs.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate obsolescence risks impacting cost, schedule, and performance objectives.
• Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams consisting of internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers.
• Support proposal development, cost estimation, resource planning, and execution strategies for new and existing programs.
Qualifications for the Senior Obsolescence Management Project Engineer Include:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline required.
• 10+ years of experience managing obsolescence management or DMSMS projects within aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or other highly regulated industries.
• Strong knowledge of electronic components including resistors, capacitors, diodes, inductors, transformers, connectors, integrated circuits, and related technologies.
• Experience researching alternate electronic components utilizing datasheets, supplier documentation, and technical resources.
• Proven experience evaluating obsolete parts and developing alternate component recommendations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects and collaborate effectively within a cross-functional, hierarchical organization.
• Must have active Secret Security Clearance
Compensation for the Senior Obsolescence Management Project Engineer includes:
Salary Range: $130,000 - $160,000
