Job Description
Release Manager | Mission-Critical Government Systems
This role requires an active Secret clearance. Falsely claiming to hold a federal security clearance is a violation of federal law and subject to criminal prosecution. All clearances will be verified before any offer is extended.
Are you the person who sleeps soundly on release night because you've thought of everything? We're looking for a Release Manager who thrives on precision, cross-team coordination, and zero-downtime delivery for the systems that keep government running.
What you'll do
You'll own the full release lifecycle - from scope definition and scheduling to post-deployment retrospectives - serving as the connective tissue between development, operations, security, and business stakeholders. You'll run release readiness reviews, write airtight deployment runbooks, track DORA metrics, and use the data to keep raising the bar.

- Build and execute detailed runbooks with clear validation gates, decision checkpoints, and rollback procedures
- Integrate release management into CI/CD pipelines, environment promotion workflows, and change management practices
- Track deployment frequency, change failure rate, and MTTR - and turn those numbers into real process improvements
- Navigate CAB reviews and formal authorization processes with confidence, keeping every release compliant with agency policies
What you bring
- 4-7 years in release management, change management, or a closely related DevOps/IT operations role
- Bachelor's in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- Solid hands-on experience with Jenkins, Git, Jira, and related DevOps tooling
- Sharp communication and organizational skills - you can manage multiple concurrent releases without dropping a thread
- Experience with risk assessment, release automation, and post-release reviews
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
Bonus points for
- Familiarity with federal agency IT infrastructure and compliance frameworks
- ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent
