Education/Experience:
A relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent and 14 years of relevant experience. With a relevant master's degree, 12 years of relevant experience is acceptable. With a PhD, 10 years of relevant experience is required.
Job Description:
The Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) - Linux Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure Linux-based systems within enterprise and government environments.
This role supports system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and ongoing operations in compliance with federal cybersecurity standards.
Perform system hardening in accordance with DISA STIGs, CIS benchmarks, and NIST guidelines
Conduct vulnerability remediation using tools such as Tenable Nessus/ACAS
Support RMF activities including control implementation, assessment support, and documentation
Troubleshoot issues related to system performance and security controls
Develop automation scripts (Bash/Python) for system administration and security tasks
Support patching, configuration management, and change control processes
Collaborate with cybersecurity, network, and cloud teams to maintain system security posture
