Responsibilities
Be part of a fast-paced, high energy, team supporting Strategic Systems Programs Re-Entry Branch on the Sea Launched Cruise Missile (SLCM-N) program as the Lead Weapon Systems Integration Engineer. This unique and challenging role requires a strong understanding of both Department of Energy (DOE) nuclear weapon systems and Department of War (DoW) delivery platforms. The successful candidate will serve as a key technical liaison, managing complex interfaces, ensuring system compatibility, and driving successful integration activities throughout the program lifecycle. The candidate should be familiar with nuclear weapon programs and be able to utilize tools such as DOORS, SYSMYL and Cameo. This position will require the candidate to represent the Re-Entry Branch at various meetings and have a comprehensive understanding of how to lead and manage a project from start to finish.

There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories. Key Responsibilities:
- Primary Technical Integrator - Serve as the primary technical point of contact for integrating DOE-designed components with DoW weapon systems and facilities. Serve as the LOC weapon system integrator for warhead equities, ensuring all technical and programmatic aspects are considered.
- Lifecycle Engineering Lead - Lead engineering projects throughout their lifecycle, ensuring compliance with applicable government standards and technical baselines.
- Interface Control Management - Lead the development and management of Interface Control Documents (ICDs), ensuring all mechanical, electrical, and software interfaces are clearly defined and compliant with program requirements.
- Customer & Partner Engagement - Interface directly with DOE, DoW, and external partners, presenting technical findings and maintaining strong collaborative relationships.
- Requirements Management - Manage SLCM-N requirements across acquisition phases and translate them into actionable design and engineering needs.
- Project Planning * POA&M Development - Formulate and maintain Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), collaborating with stakeholders to ensure timely milestone completion.
- System-Level Analysis - Conduct performance modeling, trade studies, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate system-level integration risks.
- Branch Liaison Representation - Represent the Re-Entry Branch at internal and external meetings, communicating technical positions and program priorities.
- Technical Documentation Oversight - Develop, review, and validate technical documentation and supporting materials for accuracy and completeness.
- Design Review Participation - Participate in design reviews to ensure requirements traceability, interface compliance, and technical rigor.
- Stakeholder Coordination - Coordinate with stakeholders across multiple organizations to ensure aligned work performance and integrated technical execution.
- Data-Driven Process Improvement - Apply data-driven analysis to identify issues and recommend improvements to processes, workflows, and integration performance.
- Additional Responsibilities - Perform other duties as assigned in support of mission objectives.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's (with 8-10 years of experience) or Master's degree (with 6-8 years of experience) or a PhD (with 3-5 years of experience) in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Must possess and maintain an Active TS/SCI clearance required; ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.
- Experience collaborating with government customers, national laboratories, and/or defense contractors.
- The ability to work well within a team and the ability to collaborate on projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to author technical documentation
- Professional oral and written communication skills.
- A passion for learning, helping others, sharing team knowledge, and contributing value to the mission in any way possible.
Desired:
- Prior Submarine Navy Officer.
- Experience with SSP, NNSA, SNL, or LLNL nuclear programs.
- Willingness to learn and become a subject matter expert with various system engineering tools.
