Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector is currently seeking a Staff Process Engineer to join our team in Rocket Center, WV just outside of Cumberland, MD in our Fuze & Electronics Business Lane. The Allegany Ballistics Laboratory (ABL) site in Rocket Center designs, develops and manufactures tactical rocket motors, medium caliber ammunition, composite components and end items, and fuze and electronics equipment. For decades, the dedicated and highly skilled team at ABL have supported national security efforts by developing and building defense systems for DoD customers and U.S. allies.
The Staff Process Engineer leads, develops, and oversees manufacturing processes based on design requirements. The candidate will lead, develop, and maintain detailed work instructions for assigned products/processes, provide suggestions to improve productivity, compile and analyze processing data, investigate manufacturing problems and implement corrective actions, support proposal and development activities and provide day to day support to manufacturing personnel.
This position will we be located on-site at our Rocket Center, WV location. No remote opportunities are available for this position.

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,000.00 - $208,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

Responsibilities will include:
- Adhere to all department and plant safety rules
- Assist in establishing safety requirements for facilities and equipment.
- Develop Manufacturing Process, documentation, and equipment layout that ensures production hardware and test articles meet engineering and configuration requirements
- Establish Key Characteristics for manufacturing/processing and ensure systems are in place to monitor and control them Generate specifications for procurement of new equipment.
- Provide analysis and data to support review boards and investigations
- Analyze processes and equipment for process capabilities, yield, scrap rate, and downtime.
- Identify process improvements, capture feedback from Operations Personnel and incorporate changes into the manufacturing process.
- Determine root cause and corrective actions for discrepancies.
- Work with maintenance staff to troubleshoot and repair production specific equipment.
- Work as part of an Integrated Product Team to support both internal and external customers.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or relevant experience in a technical field with minimum 12 years of experience or Masters degree in a technical field with minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
- Computer skills must include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Knowledge and experience with SPC techniques
- Working knowledge of GD&T as defined by ANSI/ASME Y14.5M-1994
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with external customers and all plant personnel
- Comfortable making presentations in front of peers and senior leadership
- Have an understanding and working knowledge of Lean/Agile Manufacturing
- U.S. citizenship
- Ability to obtain a USG Secret Clearance - not needed for start
- This position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for this location. Candidates hired into this role will be required to complete and submit an Employee Possessor Questionnaire to ATF for approval to be a possessor.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience with Surface Mount Technology(SMT) for Circuit Card Assembly(CCA) population of electrical components
- Experience in the manufacture of electrical and electromechanical assemblies.
- Experience using CAD/CAM software, AutoCAD, Mastercam, Solid Works or NX
