What You'll Get to Do:
The F-35 CNI Portfolio Chief Engineer is responsible for the technical direction, execution, and oversight of all aspects of engineering within the F35 CNI Development programs including design, development, implementation, integration, testing, and delivery of product to the customer. They are responsible for ensuring the programs in the portfolio are aligned technically to the overall vision and strategy.

Primary Level Salary Range: $212,100.00 - $318,100.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

What You'll Get to Do:
The F-35 CNI Portfolio Chief Engineer is responsible for the technical direction, execution, and oversight of all aspects of engineering within the F35 CNI Development programs including design, development, implementation, integration, testing, and delivery of product to the customer. They are responsible for ensuring the programs in the portfolio are aligned technically to the overall vision and strategy.
Duties include the following:
- Work alongside the Department Manager and support the Portfolio Director in technological roadmaps for the F-35 platform
- Oversees and directs program Chief Engineers and technical teams within the F35 CNI Development Department
- Responsible for supervision/mentorship of program Chief Engineers
- Develop and manage technical relationships with customers to ensure ongoing success
- Supports program execution as definitive technical authority for all aspects of engineering on all program elements (hardware/software/support/test).
- Maintains cognizance over technical activities within and across programs for requirements development, hardware/software design, integration, and verification/validation activities
- Solves technical problems and provides solutions that are technically sound and programmatically executable
- Provides technical status and assessment to the Portfolio Director and Department Managers. Supports assessment of cost and schedule impacts of technical decisions
- Ensures program is adhering to engineering processes and best practices in design, development, fabrication/assembly, test, and sustainment of products for both internal and external customers and is compliant with company policies, procedures, and quality standards
- Ensures design products transition smoothly to Production & Sustainment
- Coordinates with functional organization to ensure execution of program statement of work and technical program requirements are met
- Supports business captures toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives
- Supports pursuit/proposal efforts by leading or by appointing the appropriate SME, in the development of technical execution strategy and architectures to meet customer objectives
- Owns the F-35 CNI System Technical Baseline
- Drive process development, continuous improvement, and affordability initiatives
- Identify and insert reusable technologies and design products for current and future programs
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) field & 16+ years of related technical experience or a Master's degree in a STEM field & 14+ years of related technical experience, or PHD in a STEM field & 12+ years of related technical experience
- Experience in systems development, integration, and test
- Experience in Root Cause Investigation and Corrective Action Development
- Understanding of DoD design process
- Experience in conducting trade studies
- Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain F35 Program Access
- Experience as SME, Technical lead, Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead, Chief Engineer, or other engineering leadership role that demonstrated team building, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Experience directly managing or leading engineering teams
- Expertise understanding of design, manufacturing, and test processes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post graduate degree in STEM or technical management
- Demonstrated success in leading technical development of complex RF based electronic systems and subsystems
- Domain expertise in communication, navigation, or identification systems
- Familiarity with architecture development
- Knowledge of earned value management
