Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is seeking a Summer 2026 Intern Material & Process Engineer. In this role, you will: 1) analyze, research, design, and develop materials and their related fabrication and application processes for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems, and subsystems; 2) apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic, and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication, and assembly processes; 3) provide Materials and Processes support to Signature Integration, Supportable, Manufacturing, Production Operations, Test Engineers, ESH, Procurement, and Sustainment organizations as required; and 4) work alongside a team of engineers and technicians to support the design, development, fabrication, and/or testing of advanced materials for a range of LM Aero programs.

The types of materials involved may include, but are not limited to: primers, resin systems, composites, adhesives, thin films, coatings, foams and honeycombs, ceramics and glasses, and additively-manufactured materials. The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of: 1) laboratory testing; 2) materials characterization. Familiarity with electrical and magnetic properties of materials is desired. Must be a US Citizen. This position will require a government security clearance.; This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Basic Qualifications:
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics

- Basic knowledge of how to conceptualize and execute test plans for material development.

Desired Skills:
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Materials Science/Engineering

- Demonstrated ability to work in a materials laboratory environment with a team of engineers and technicians.

- Previous experience in the design, fabrication, and/or testing of materials.

- Familiarity with electrical and magnetic properties of materials.

- Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
