The Northrop Grumman Multi Domain Operations Division team under the Chief Information and Digital Office (CIDO) is seeking a highly experienced (Staff Level) Lead Network Administrator to join its dynamic team of technical professionals in the Redondo Beach, CA location. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Space Systems support team.

We are chartered with building and supporting a mission-critical interstate network interconnected with cloud, government and other mission partners for the development, launching, and operation of multiple space vehicles. This network engineering position is responsible for providing technical leadership in support of a team of multi-disciplinary engineers tasked with all areas of space vehicle design, assembly, and operation.

The Network Administrator maintains smooth operation of LAN/WAN/VPNs. Plans, designs, configures, and installs network hardware in support of customer requirements. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware / software interconnection, as well as interfacing, including routers, multiplexers, firewalls, switches, gateways, etc. Proposes solutions to management. Ensures all communication requirements (based on future needs and current usage) are configured to optimize cost savings. Creates and ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions. Provides regular monitoring, and network analysis, regarding short and long-range planning for [in-house] systems. May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment. Designs networks, or portions of networks, including the selection of hardware and software packages.

Primary Level Salary Range: $161,000.00 - $241,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

- Maintain smooth operation of a highly available classified network
- Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity

- Plan, design, configure, and install network hardware in support of requirements
- Maintain technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware/software interconnections, as well as interfaces, including routers, multiplexers, firewalls, switches, gateways, and proprietary or niche scientific technical engineering equipment (STEE)
- Propose and ensure solutions to management to guarantee that all communications requirements are based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings
- Create and ensure that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions
- Install, configure, support Cisco routers, switches, Call Manager VoIP systems, Palo Alto firewalls, and General Dynamics TACLANEs
- Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for network and connected systems
- Design networks, or portions of networks, including the selection of hardware and software packages
- Provide incident and service request support in accordance with enterprise SLAs
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment with engineering teams, other network engineers, systems administrators, program management, cybersecurity, and physical security personnel
- Exhibit exceptional verbal and written communication skills necessary for success
- Efficiently manage and prioritize multiple programs concurrently in a dynamic operational environment
- Mentor and provide structured training to junior network engineering staff to support continuous learning and professional growth
Additional duties will include (but not be limited to):
- Plan, manage and implement complex network designs in support of program requirements
- Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
- Support engineering teams in project designs to clarify project requirements and provide design solutions in accordance with standards
- Perform troubleshooting analysis of network infrastructure and associated systems
- Document network hardware and software technology components
- Implement and troubleshoot LAN technologies such as VLANs, port tagging, and spanning tree protocols
- Provide third-level support and troubleshooting of network problems
- Provide periodic after-hours and weekend support
- Work without appreciable direction while exercising considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments. Your completed work will be reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective for desired results
- Implement and troubleshoot WAN technologies such as EIGRP, BGP, OSPF
- Interface regularly with program team members and manage their installation timelines and deliverables to help facilitate successful deployments
- Manage timely resolution of all critical and/or complex problems meeting SLA requirements
- Manage the keying and deployment of HAIPE/TACLANE and other military COMSEC/CRYPTO equipment
- Demonstrate experience in the use of network analysis tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds NTA, OPNET, etc.
- Exhibit proficiency using Microsoft Office, Visio, Project, PowerPoint, and Excel or their equivalent
- Lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds as needed

Basic Qualifications:
To be considered minimally qualified for this position you must meet all of the following requirements.
- Master's Degree with 10 years of relevant IT/Network experience; OR a Bachelor's Degree with 12 years of relevant IT/Network experience; OR an Associate's Degree with 14 years of relevant IT/Network experience; OR a High School Diploma/GED with 16 years of relevant IT/Network experience is required
- Must have work experience with designing and maintaining LAN/WAN based networks, managing routing protocols on large LAN environments, and experience with Cisco hardware (routers, switches, and firewalls)
- Must have a DOD 8570 IAT level II baseline certification (example: Security+ CE)
- Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
- Ability to work after hours, and weekends, as needed
- Candidates must have a current DOD Top Secret level security clearance with SCI access level eligibility (at a minimum), to include a closed investigation date completed within the last 6 years OR must be enrolled in the DOD Continuous Evaluation (CE) Program, in order to be considered
- Candidates must have the ability to obtain, and maintain, access to Special Programs as a condition of continued employment
Preferred Qualifications:
Individuals with the following skills and/or experience will receive preferential consideration.
- The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree Network Engineering, a Security+ CE, and a CCNP certification, with 12 years of Network design, analysis, and administration of routers, switches, hubs, and firewalls in a classified environment
- CCIE level Cisco Certification
- Cloud network certification, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, Azure Network Engineer Associate, or Google Professional Cloud Network Engineer, or equivalent training and hands-on experience
- Experience designing and maintaining LAN & WAN based networks, managing routing protocols on large LAN environments, and experience with Cisco and Palo Alto hardware (routers, switches, and firewalls)
- In-depth knowledge of and experience with routing and switching concepts and protocols including DNS, DHCP, GRE, QOS, VLANs, DMVPN, and EIGRP
- Experience in the use of network analysis tools (i.e. WireShark, SolarWinds, Opnet, etc.)
- Experience with Splunk, Windows, RHEL, Nutanix, and VMWare
- Experience with NetOps/NOC design integrated with program Cyber
- Strong understanding of network security principles essential to implementing cybersecurity
- Familiarity with network device management and security applications such as FMC, GEM One, ISE, Panorama, and WildFire
- E xperience working within IT Systems Design, Deployment, and Administration
- Experience with design and planning of network security systems including software security, zero-trust principles, and best practices
- Experience with configuring TACLANES
- Understanding of the architecture, maintenance, and administration of Linux servers
- Experience with network automation tools and scripting
- Troubleshooting virtual network issues, including firewall configuration, and resolving them accordingly
- Experience with Type 1 Network encryption
- Previous experience troubleshooting network procedures and best practices; experience with network challenges associated with systems integration, including COTS integration, capacity analysis and system architecture design
- Demonstrated leadership skills, or previous management of small teams, would be helpful
