L3Harris is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Program Director to join our Advanced Missile Propulsion & Technologies (AMPT) organization within the Advanced Solid Rocket Motor Program Office at Aerojet Rocketdyne Missile Solutions (MSSL) in Huntsville, AL. The successful candidate will oversee the work of direct reporting program managers and direct all phases of programs from inception through completion, driving program execution to achieve key business and financial objectives for orders, revenue recognition, operating income, and free cash flow for new, continuing, or current programs.

Essential Functions:
- Leadership & Oversight: Provide strategic leadership and oversight to direct reporting program managers, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Program Execution: Direct and manage all phases of programs, ensuring timely achievement of key business and financial metrics including orders, revenue recognition, operating income, and free cash flow.
- Contract Negotiation: Lead high-stakes negotiations of contracts and contract modifications to ensure favorable terms for the organization.
- Proposal Management: Oversee the development and submission of comprehensive proposals, business plans, Statement of Work (SOW), specifications, and financial terms to secure new business opportunities.
- Customer Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison between the company and its customers, leading program review sessions, and addressing customer concerns related to cost, schedule, and technical performance.
- Product Development: Guide the establishment of design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts, fostering product research, development, integration, and testing to expand the product line with the customer.
- Milestone Management: Establish and monitor program milestones and master plans, proactively identifying and resolving program issues, including resource allocation and contractual adjustments.
- Team Development: Lead and mentor a team of program managers and their staff across technical, manufacturing, and administrative areas, promoting professional growth and high performance.
- Impact & Influence: Communicate with parties within and outside of the organization, including major customers or vendors. Influence senior leadership on matters of strategic importance, gaining acceptance for new concepts, practices, and approaches.
- Supervision & Leadership: Manage highly experienced professionals or teams, often across multiple departments. Responsible for hiring, promotion, and compensation decisions within the organization, subject to senior management review. Report to executive management.
- Innovation & Complexity: Establish direction for new processes, systems, solutions, and products through significant conceptualization, reasoning, and interpretation. Regularly solve complex problems, considering multiple organizational variables and future best practices.
- Organization Impact: Develop tactical and operational plans and goals for a business area or function, including oversight for multiple departments. Implement strategies with direct impact on mid- to long-term achievements and frequently influence leadership decisions. Manage budget and Profit & Loss (P&L) accountability for the department.
- Up to 20% business travel to other L3Harris and customer sites.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related DOD Program experience or Graduate degree with a minimum of 13 years of years of prior related DOD Program experience, or in lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related DOD Program experience.
- 5+ years people leadership experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Cost Account Management (CAM) experience.
- Strong background in program financial management, and integrated master planning/scheduling.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to breif at all levels within the company as well as with external customers.
- Ability to develop consensus and drive the organization to achieve program goals.
- Demonstrated highly effective organization, team orientation and leadership skills.
- Proven ability to recruit, train and motivate employees and build best in class teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally, across geographically-disbursed teams.
- Strong knowledge and skills with the ability to apply recognized Project Management and Risk Management methodologies.
- Significant experience with Microsoft Project and mastery of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
