Job Description

We are looking for a Technical Specialist with experience in maintaining and repairing complex manufacturing equipment, CNC machining equipment, Autoclaves, Composite bonding ovens and printed circuit board manufacturing equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution - from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.

What You'll Do:
  • Perform troubleshooting, PMs and repairs of precision manufacturing equipment, instruments, and mechanisms requiring knowledge of production equipment, specialized test equipment, or other technical applications.
  • Develop maintenance procedures essential to departmental compliance.
  • Assist and support engineering, production, test departments, etc. in the design, repair, and testing of a wide variety of manufacturing and test systems; provide guidance for maintaining and servicing the equipment; develop solutions that minimize downtime for complex problems and author and execute maintenance plans using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Make continuous improvement recommendations, participate and lead projects in area of responsibility.
  • Review and accurately interpret schematics, drawings, specifications, and procedures for repair, adjustment and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment.
  • Maintain electronic maintenance records, required logs, and reports in accordance with BAE Systems policies/procedures and government regulations.
  • Procure and maintain parts and service contracts for maintenance activities.
  • Must be willing to support after hours troubleshooting, repairs and plant emergencies.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.


Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 3 years or more related experience.
  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor's or Master's, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to perform duties without appreciable direction and exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments.
  • Comfortable working both individually and as a contributing member of a small, highly productive team.
  • As this position requires operating a company vehicle, an offer and subsequent employment are contingent upon possessing and maintaining a valid US driver's license and successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • A solid working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and circuits in industrial machinery.
  • Solid understanding of fluid flow processes and hands-on experience with pumps, valves, filters, and instrumentation
  • Knowledge of composite manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience with machining equipment and fabrication.


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $64723 - $103557

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
