On-site Deputy Project Manager
DAWSON, a Native Hawaiian Organization (NHO)-owned business, is seeking a Staff Project Manager II (On-site Deputy Project Manager at Fort Devens) to support a variety of environmental consulting projects for federal clients, including the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Working under the guidance of senior project managers, this role involves overseeing, leading, and performing field activities, UXO escorts, and acting as the on-site Deputy Project Manager at Fort Devens. This position has the additional responsibility of acting on the Project Managers behalf on-site or when the Project Manager is unavailable. Applicants must currently be located and continue to reside within a daily commute of Fort Devens. This position is ideal for career professionals seeking hands-on experience across diverse environmental disciplines in a fast-paced, mission-driven consulting environment.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires periodic CONUS and OCONUS travel, including visits to secure federal facilities and remote field sites. Travel frequency may vary based on project needs and may involve short-notice trips, overnight stays, and work in outdoor or rugged environments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and assist with all site activities at Fort Devens. Duties could include site manager, site safety and health officer, UXO escort, sampler, or inspector.
- Responsible for daily field operation activities & service order needs being completed in contract-required timelines.

- Conduct monthly on-site system inspections and annual LUC inspections.
- Coordinates and oversees on-site subcontractors and vendors.
- Must be compliant to provide UXO safety escorts.
- Serves as the Project Manager as needed and fills in during the absence of the Project Manager.
- Develops and maintains a high level of engagement and positive relationships with clients to build on current performance and develop new opportunities.
- Document field activities by maintaining accurate field notes, completing data forms, and assisting with photographic and GPS/GIS documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports and environmental documents, including data summaries, figures, tables, and draft sections of reports.
- Adhere to health and safety requirements, participating in safety briefings, following field safety procedures, and using appropriate PPE.
- Contribute to internal project organization, including file management, data entry, and maintaining project records in accordance with contract standards.
- Provide general support to multidisciplinary teams, demonstrating professionalism, reliability, and a willingness to learn and take on new tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS
- Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university, and or six years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in managing financial, schedule, and performance objectives or assisting a project manager with these duties.
- Minimum of two (2) years in a personnel supervisory role.
- UXO Tech III qualified.
- Site Safety Health Officer Level 1 qualified.
- Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and handle pressure.
- Must meet facility and Fort Devens security and access requirements.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and document environmental data, including field surveys, sampling, and site assessments.
- Competence with common environmental software and tools, such as GIS, GPS, data management systems, and basic statistical tools.
- Clear and concise writing skills for preparing technical memos, field reports, and sections of larger environmental documents.
- Comfort working in outdoor environments, including remote or rugged field locations, and ability to follow field safety protocols.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow established procedures.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities, with willingness to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Eligibility to work on federal contracts, including the ability to pass background checks and meet security/access requirements for government facilities.
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel as needed for fieldwork or site visits.
- Motivation to learn, adapt, and develop professionally in a consulting environment.
