Duties

This position is located in an Air National Guard Wing, Mission Support Group, Security Forces (SF)Squadron. The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for all base electronic security systems by performing electronic security systems duties and managing all functions necessary to sustain electronic security protection in all areas of the installation.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a TWO YEAR trial period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
Qualifications

Military Grades: ENLISTED

GENERAL EXPERIENCE :
Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have one year equivalent to the next lower grade level, experience education or knowledge performing administrative office support functions and developing, coordinating, and publishing all SF installation level publications to include the Installation Security Plan, the Installation Security Instruction, and SF annexes to all installation plans. Responsible for the management and administration of the Intrusion Detection System (IDS) program. Advises the MAJCOM SF IDS program manager of any base or site activities that will impact the Integrated Base Defense Security Systems (IBDSS) program. This includes, but is not limited to, mission changes resulting in increase or decrease of resources, reconfiguration of resource areas, and construction of facilities on or in the vicinity of current and planned sensor locations. Experience managing entry control point (ECP) related applications associated with DBIDS and the Security Forces Information Management System (SFMIS). Managing the functional and operational sustainment of all data processing programs such as DBIDS, SFMIS, and other systems installed and/or programmed for the ECP. Producing and maintaining any related reports for command echelon personnel.
