About the Role:
We’re seeking a Senior Application Developer to design and build modern, cloud-ready applications for federal agencies transforming legacy systems. In this role, you will lead full-stack development efforts across multiple environments, modernizing outdated workflows and implementing secure, scalable, and user-centered digital services.
You’ll collaborate closely with product teams, platform engineers, and federal stakeholders to drive the full lifecycle of application development—from design and architecture to build, test, deploy, and sustainment. Your work will directly contribute to faster delivery, improved usability, and stronger mission outcomes.
Key Projects You’ll Be Involved In:
• Design and build full-stack applications using modern frameworks (Node.js, Python, Java, React, Angular, etc.)
• Modernize legacy systems into scalable microservices or event-driven architectures
• Develop secure RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs
• Implement automated testing strategies (unit, integration, end-to-end)
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines integrated with cloud-native platforms
• Deploy applications to containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes)
• Integrate applications with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Ensure compliance with federal accessibility and security standards
• Conduct code reviews and provide mentorship across development teams
• Participate in user research, requirements sessions, and technical planning meetings
You’re an Ideal Candidate If You Possess:
• 5–7+ years of professional software development experience
• Proficiency in at least two modern programming languages (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java, Go)
• Strong experience with microservices, containers, and cloud deployments
• Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases
• Experience building cloud-native applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Familiarity with federal compliance requirements (508, FISMA, FedRAMP, etc.)
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
Required Personal Qualities:
• Resourceful problem-solver with strong adaptability
• Customer-first mindset with excellent attention to detail
• Comfortable with ambiguity and iterative design
• Strong organization and time-management skills
• Collaborative team player with clear communication
Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Federal digital services experience (USDS, 18F, VA, DHS, DoD)
• Experience with USWDS or accessibility-first design
• Background working with serverless technologies (AWS Lambda, API Gateway)
• Experience integrating AI/ML components into applications
• Experience with event streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis)
• Active clearance or ability to obtain one
