Program Overview

About The Role

Peraton is seeking a Test Lead to support the NOAA AWIPS program - the nationwide forecasting platform used by meteorologists to track storms, analyze environmental data, and issue emergency alerts. With more than 150 operational sites depending on AWIPS, rigorous testing is essential to guaranteeing system performance and reliability. In this role, you will guide system-level testing, verification, and validation activities that directly impact the safety and accuracy of national weather operations.

What You'll Do:
  • The Test Lead manages system-level testing, verification, and validation activities to ensure delivered capabilities meet all functional and performance requirements.
  • Develop test plans, procedures, and traceability matrices
  • Lead integration, system, regression, and acceptance testing
  • Coordinate test execution with engineers and stakeholders
  • Document test results and support defect resolution
  • Ensure compliance with system requirements and customer criteria
  • Perform system level software integration and test (I&T) activities for Satellite Ground Station
  • Command and Control applications ensuring system compatibility to meet program technical, schedule and cost objectives. This includes the test and integration of COTS-based systems and custom software, from the system design phase through development, documentation, installation, and commissioning of the completed system
  • Generate test procedures for the validation and verification of software components to analyze requirements for integration and/or testability issues
  • Support test readiness reviews, formal system verification of the system requirements and final test reports
  • Organize, execute, and report on software testing
  • Recognize and adopt best practices in documentation, testing and efficient use of resources
  • Utilize RedHat Enterprise Linux to resolve configuration issues and integrate Red Hat Linux systems with other existing environments
  • Create and modify bash scripts
  • Write and edit scripts in Python, Perl, Powershell, Java, C,etc.
  • Utilize JIRA in an Agile development environment
  • Support development and maintenance of automated testing

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D.
  • 4 years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of test engineering, verification/validation, or system integration experience.
  • Experience developing test plans, procedures, and traceability matrices.
  • Familiarity with Linux, distributed systems, and operational testing.
  • Experience supporting regression and integration testing in Agile environments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting NOAA, NWS, or other environmental or weather-focused operational systems.
  • Active/Current Public Trust

Details

Target Salary Range: $135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
