Data Scientist

The Opportunity:

As a data scientist, you're excited at the prospect of unlocking the secrets held by a data set, and you're fascinated by the possibilities presented by IoT, machine learning, and artifi cia l intelligence. In an increasingly connected world, massive amounts of structured and unstructured data open new opportunities. As a data scientist at Booz Allen, you can help turn these complex data sets into useful information to solve global challenges.

On our team, you'll use your analytical skills and data science knowledge to create real-world impact. You'll work closely with your clients to understand their questions and needs and then dig into their data-rich environments to find the pieces of their information puzzle. You'll develop algorithms and systems and use the right combination of tools and frameworks to turn sets of disparate data points into objective answers to help clients make informed decisions. Ultimately, you'll provide a deep understanding of the data, what it all means, and how it can be used. Work with us as we use data science for good.

This role will evaluate complex organizational data in support of the Defense Policy Review Initiative Program. It involves curating, processing, and transforming large datasets to ensure they are accurate, consistent, and suitable for program-wide analysis and decision-making. This person will independently apply the full data curation lifecycle, including assessment, cleaning, storage structuring, and optimization to enhance long-term usability. The position requires advanced data quality improvements and the development of innovative techniques to maximize the value of critical program data. You will independently work extensively with artifi cia l intelligence technologies, including large language models, agent-based systems, and generative artifi cia l intelligence applications. You will develop solutions using Python and modern data platforms to refine and improve complex datasets. The role also involves supporting strategies for preparing, aligning, and leveraging large program datasets to enable accurate insights and informed policy deliberations.

Join us. The world can't wait.

You Have:

  • 2+ years of experience with data exploration, data cleaning, data analysis, data visualization, or data mining
  • 2+ years of experience with statistical and general-purpose programming languages for data analysis
  • 2+ years of experience applying comprehensive data curation processes, including assessment, cleaning, storage structuring, and advanced optimization, and evaluating organizational data to support major program analysis and decision processes
  • Experience working with artifi cia l intelligence, large language models, and agent-based, generative, and deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Hugging Face Transformers, and building and deploying models using platforms such as AWS SageMaker
  • Experience with data visualization and statistical analysis tools commonly used in data science such as Pandas, scikit-learn, matplotlib, and SQL
  • Knowledge of Python-based data engineering techniques and modern data platform environments such as Databricks, including building ETL / ELT pipelines, transforming large datasets using Pyspark, and automating data workflows in cloud notebook
  • Ability to analyze structured and unstructured data sources, and develop predictive data models, quantitative analyses, and visualization to produce actionable results
  • Ability to facilitate focus group meetings with various levels of stakeholders and senior leadership
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science or Analytics and 2+ years of experience with data science, or 6+ years of experience with data science in lieu of degree

Nice If You Have:

  • 2+ years of experience with the DoD or military
  • Experience supporting large defense- related programs or policy review initiatives
  • Experience with advanced automation of data cleaning and preparation workflows
  • Experience with modern artifi cia l intelligence platforms and emerging generative artifi cia l intelligence techniques
  • Experience supporting organizational decision-making through advanced data analysis
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present technical findings to non-technical audiences
  • Databricks Engineering Certification
