Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking Staff Software Engineer. This position can be filled in Huntsville, AL and will support the Sentinel program.

What You'll Get To Do:

As a DevStar Software Lead, you'll be responsible for leading technical efforts with the following scope:
  • Collaboration across multiple teams to drive software related projects to closure
  • Software process and governance development and alignment to program goals and division/corporate prop
  • Ensuring schedule commitments are met, adjustments to deliverables are coordinated, and impacts clearly communicated
  • Mentoring less experienced software engineers
  • Present to executive level leadership

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Basic Qualifications:
  • 12 Years relevant experience with a Bachelors Degree from an accredited university; 10 Years relevant experience with Masters Degree from an accredited university; 8 Years relevant experience with PhD from an accredited university or additional 4 years in lieu of degree.
  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD SECRET Security clearance at time of application, current and within scope and maintained during the duration of employment;
  • Ability to obtain Program Special Access within twelve months of hire date; justification required if unable to obtain during this time frame.
  • Minimum 5 Years experience Software Development
  • Minimum 3 Years experience of Software Architecture
  • Minimum 3 Years experience Software Process and Governance
  • Minimum 2 Years experience with CI/CD workflows for software development using GitLab (or similar tools like GitHub, Azure, Jenkins), Nexus (or similar artifact management systems)
  • Minimum 2 Years experience managing technical deliveries to cost and schedule commitments


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience as Cost Account Manager (CAM) or Work Package Lead
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies and Agile development tools
  • Experience working with multi-domain networks and synchronization across complex platforms
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment
  • Security+ or equivalent certification

Primary Level Salary Range: $163,200.00 - $244,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
