Responsibilities

The Systems Architect will support the Sponsor with strategic planning, systems requirements, user case development, architectural design, governance, and baselines for the platform interfaces, including those provided by external stakeholders. This requires interacting with stakeholders, product owners, developers, and project managers to elicit, understand, and document the baselines for the system and plan for future changes. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to define requirements and resolve discrepancies between proposed plans and established standards.
  • Document, analyze, and review software requirements for the data engineering and development teams responsible for the development, test, and O&M of the system.
  • Interact with multiple stakeholders to assess and understand the requirements to ensure that user stories are consistent and applicable across the platform.
  • Work with engineers, developers, and PMs to document and support networks, interfaces, and systems architectures, illustrating and documenting new and existing architectures, and provide architectural and operational guidelines with the appropriate level of abstraction for deployment and operations. Design the future state of the application, system, and all interfaces.
  • Provide expertise to ensure successful scalability, delivery, deployment, and transition of systems for production use.
  • Coordinate project documentation with the team, ensuring appropriate level of peer reviews and approvals.
  • Support technical discussions with interface partners in assessing the current and future state of the system. Assist with designing and building cloud-based, bidirectional interfaces with mission partners' platforms.
  • Address problems of access controls, systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms.
  • Assist in identifying and documenting business processes and support data mapping of current systems to future-state systems.

All personnel joining the organization undergo an additional security review that can take anywhere from 7 business days to 60+ days.

Qualifications

  • Must possess and be able to maintain a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • BS 10-12, MS 8-10, PhD 5-7 with a degree in engineering, information systems, computer science or other technical/scientific discipline, or comparable experience with 3 years of experience with the Sponsor in a mission operations focused environment.
  • Knowledge of the requirements tracking tool, Jira, and how best to utilize its functionality in an agile environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with activity and data modeling, transaction flow analysis, internal control and risk analysis, and modern business methods and performance measurement techniques.
  • Ability to translate requirements into end-to-end designs for systems that involve multiple interfaces and supporting data repositories. For example: experience with web services, SOA, BI/DW solutions, data management technologies (ELT, data mining, profiling, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience working with a platform and software development team.
  • Demonstrated experience processing and integrating large amounts of information in an organized and comprehensible manner.
  • Understanding of building tools and technical signatures.
  • Demonstrated experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS) in a highly secure environment.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating and developing strategies to solve complex systems engineering challenges in cross-organizational environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying and validating requirements from user stories and engagements.
  • Experience with creating original concepts/theories after analyzing various projects.
  • Ability to adapt technology designs of equipment and technology to serve user needs.
  • Ability to perform functional and technical analysis, timeline analysis, cost estimation, and trade studies to create a total system solution that acknowledges technical schedule and cost constraints.
  • Experience applying concepts of operations, a set of disciplines for the planning, analysis, design, and construction of information systems across organizations.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
  • Working knowledge of Sponsor's network/system capabilities, best practices, and policies/procedures, including cloud and general systems governance.

Desired:

  • Demonstrated experience with graph database technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience with data visualization and link analysis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of enterprise data strategy, data governance, data stewardship principles, data architecture principles, data standards, and metadata management best practices.
