As a Structural Technician, you will apply your technical skills and expertise in the assembly, fabrication, and modification of aerospace structures. This position involves performing structural assembly operations, interpreting blueprints, ensuring quality compliance, and contributing to the completion of major assemblies and subassemblies for aerospace vehicles and components.

You will work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure assemblies meet design specifications, safety standards, and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Assemble, fit, and fabricate structural components through operations such as filing, sawing, burring, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming.

Align parts on jigs, fixtures, and aerospace vehicles using templates and precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.) to verify dimensional accuracy.

Translate and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to perform layout, drilling, and installation tasks while maintaining correct edge distances and fastener pitch.

Modify incomplete and complete assemblies as directed, incorporating engineering changes into the final structure.

Install various fasteners including rivets, hi-locks, and other aerospace-standard hardware.

Monitor and verify quality of work using statistical process controls or other quality assurance methods.

Update job status in operational databases (Level IV).

Coordinate and communicate effectively with quality control, engineering, and team leads to ensure build integrity and process alignment (Levels III–IV).

Perform maintenance and support duties related to tooling, equipment, and workstations as needed (Level IV).

Physical / Mental / Environmental Requirements

Frequent walking, sitting, standing, stair climbing, and repetitive hand/arm motions requiring dexterity.

Frequent use of visual and auditory abilities including depth perception, color differentiation, and sound discernment.

Ability to lift or carry up to 50 lbs regularly.

Frequent exposure to outdoor elements (temperature extremes, sun, rain, or snow), loud environments, and occasional exposure to fumes or hazardous materials.

Safety-Sensitive Position:
This role involves aviation-related duties, inspection of structures and equipment, and operation or supervision of vehicles and heavy machinery. Responsible for the safety and security of people and property.

Skills and Qualifications
Must-Have Skills (All Levels)

Must own and maintain tools in good working order.

Proficiency in interpreting and applying technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and manuals.

Ability to perform precision installations per engineering drawings while maintaining correct tolerances, edge distance, and fastener pitch.

Experience in structural assembly, minor part fitting, and repair/refinishing, including airframe corrosion removal.

Proficiency in installation of various aerospace fasteners (rivets, hi-locks, etc.).

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

Level II: Typically 2+ years of relevant experience.

Level III: Typically 5+ years of relevant experience.

Level IV: Typically 10+ years of relevant experience.

A higher-level degree may substitute for experience; related experience may be considered in lieu of required education.
