Duties

As a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST at the GS-0346-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Serve as an expert on broad logistics support activities affecting the global deployment, redeployment, and sustainment of U.S. forces in support of National objectives.
  • Serve as a functional lead for complex, unique, sensitive or long-term initiatives concerning major transportation/logistics programs.
  • Command level action officer for the planning, coordinating, and executing of USTRANSCOM's senior logistics governance forums (e.g. Joint Deployment and Distribution Executive Board (JDDEB).
  • Represent USTRANSCOM or Directorate on transportation and logistics-related internal and external governance boards, committees, and meetings to discuss, formulate and/or coordinate strategy, policy and procedures.
  • Provide logistics management and transportation expertise related to defense logistics and transportation capabilities.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Providing direction to DoD stake holders during the conduct of analyses and for resolving complex logistics issues and process improvements.
  • Planning, coordinating, and providing management oversight of all activities relating to the planning, implementation, execution and analysis of transportation regulations, logistical policies and operational plans.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
