Employee will be assigned to Creech AFB, NV and may be required to support TDY deployments to various CONUS/OCONUS locations as required. Oversees and coordinates the work effort of assigned subordinate maintenance personnel in support of the unit's daily RPA maintenance operations. Inspects and performs organizational and intermediate level aircraft maintenance and modifications on RPA systems and support equipment as required. Incumbent will supervise service, repair, and overhaul of aircraft, aircraft engines, and other critical components to ensure airworthiness. Directs the repair, replacement, and rebuilding of aircraft structures, landing gear, power plants/trains, fuel systems, and functional components.

Inspects power plant repairs, including cracked components, oil leaks, etc. Completes malfunction diagnosis to isolate causes and direct appropriate repairs. Supervises repair of damaged components and removal of engine/major components from aircraft. Directs aircraft maintenance services to include engine flushing/cleaning, parts lubrication, and required maintenance checks. Recommends revisions to maintenance procedures to improve efficiency and ensure quality workmanship. USAF equivalent position is Aircraft Mechanic Superintendent. Position reports to the Supervisor.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Interfaces with operational customer to develop flying schedules and plans major maintenance events, completes daily and monthly operational reports; documents inventory usage, controls workflow. Works with subordinate A&P/ISR Mechanics and technical representatives to trouble shoot, diagnose, and solve unusual and complex maintenance problems.

• Supports aircraft maintenance safety programs and serves as a member on the Safety Committee. Applies logic and good judgment, understands technical order diagrams and procedures, uses test equipment for analysis of airframes, engines, flight controls, pneudraulic, fuel, electrical/electronic systems, and problems.

• Assists with planning and scheduling of aircraft utilization and maintenance activity and coordinates performance with operational customer. Maintains accurate parts inventory. Performs maintenance and repair tasks and ensures their completion.

• Oversees repairs on aircraft equipment, engines, and sub-systems to ensure serviceability.

• Directs inspections and repairs to correct power plant (engine) malfunctions, including cracked components, oil leaks, etc. Tests engine operations, using testing equipment to locate source(s) of malfunction.

• Oversees removal of engine and major components from aircraft, inspects parts for wear, warping, or other defects. Directs repairs of defective engine components.

• Ensures repairs to instruments, avionics and navigation, flight control, electrical/electronic, fuel/oil systems and aircraft accessories are conducted in accordance with airframe technical orders.

• Specialized knowledge of repairs and modifications to engines, structural components, precision repair, functional spare parts, and assemblies.

• Recommends revisions to maintenance procedures to improve efficiency and ensure quality workmanship.

• Shall perform the duties of general housekeeping of both the interior and exterior work areas and grounds maintenance of all assigned facilities not covered by host base contracts

• Performs all other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must have Associate's degree, or have completed relevant military and/or vocational technical school curriculum

• Minimum of eight-plus years actual and recent aircraft maintenance experience required

• Must have working knowledge of basic and complex maintenance and repair

• Must possess thorough knowledge of technical publications related to aircraft and missile electronics maintenance

• Must know advanced theory and principles of engine operations; accessories and components; theory of flight; rigging of flight controls; electrical and electronic; pneudraulic; and mechanical principles

• Must possess advanced knowledge of sheet metal, composites, properties of materials, fuels, and oils

• Must know general theory and principles of theory of flight and electronic flight controls, and electrical and electronic principles

• Must be capable of using and reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and data tables

• Must be able to inspect, repair, and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment

• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English

• Must submit updated SF-86 within 30 days of hire start date

• Must be eligible to gain and maintain a DoD security clearance commensurate with the assigned duties

• Must be able to lift and carry various items in excess of 50 pounds for extended periods to include the wearing of Military Issued Equipment

• Must have had an Active Secret US Government Clearance within the last 12 months. Note: US citizenship is required to obtain a Secret clearance

• Must be physically able/cleared to perform engine runs, ground taxi, towing and operate self-propelled support equipment

• Must not have contraindication to work in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.95(g) 1926.52

• Must be able to procure and retain engine run certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current DoD Security Clearance

• Application of technical knowledge of aircraft principles in determining malfunctions and skill application in restoring equipment systems and operations

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant career field

• RPA operations & deployment experience

• Prior experience as a Defense Contractor

• Prior experience in RPA aircraft maintenance and repair

• Licensed by the FAA as an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic

• USAF Munitions/Weapons Tech School/DoD equivalent/Munitions Loading (if required)
