Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Engineer III to support engineering, modernization, and sustainment of shipboard machinery and control systems across the U.S. Navy amphibious fleet. The engineer in this role will focus on supporting propulsion support systems, auxiliary machinery, and integrated control systems critical to shipboard power, propulsion support, and operational readiness. Candidates should bring strong experience in shipboard machinery systems design, steam and auxiliary systems operation and maintenance, and technical documentation development in accordance with Navy standards.

Key Responsibilities
Provide engineering and technical support for shipboard propulsion support systems, steam system auxiliary equipment, and hull, mechanical, and deck machinery onboard amphibious platforms.
Lead and support system assessments, testing, troubleshooting, and performance validation during maintenance availabilities or modernization efforts.
Develop, review, and revise technical documentation, including system manuals, maintenance procedures, test programs, and engineering change documentation.
Apply working knowledge of Navy maintenance and configuration systems to establish, track, and update equipment maintenance requirements and life-cycle documentation.
Support engineering projects involving the repair, overhaul, installation, or alteration of shipboard machinery and control systems.
Coordinate with NAVSEA, NSWCPD, fleet personnel, shipyards, and OEMs to ensure engineering solutions meet technical requirements and ship readiness objectives.
Ensure compliance with Navy technical standards, fleet guidelines, and shipboard safety procedures.

Required Qualifications
Education: Graduate degree in an Engineering discipline from a nationally accredited college or university.

Experience: Minimum seven (7) years of experience in:
Operation, maintenance, design, or testing of shipboard machinery systems (steam, auxiliary machinery, navigation systems, hull and deck equipment).
Development or review of Navy technical documentation and maintenance standards.
Engineering support for maintenance, installation, modernization, or alteration of naval ship systems.

Knowledge/Skills:
Working knowledge of Navy data systems (e.g., CDMD-OA, OMMS-NG, ICAPS, SKED).
Familiarity with Navy procedures for establishing and maintaining equipment maintenance requirements.
Strong understanding of shipboard configuration management, technical authority processes, and lifecycle support.
Preferred/Additional Experience
Experience supporting LHD 1-class or AS 40-class amphibious platforms.
Familiarity with machinery control systems such as Fairmount Automation or Rockwell Automation shipboard control architectures.
Experience with fleet maintenance availabilities, modernization planning, and shipyard integration.
Prior interface experience with NAVSEA, NSWCPD, SUPSHIP, or fleet maintenance activities.
