MTSI is seeking a Junior Systems Engineer (Manufacturing Quality Assurance) in support of the NAWCAD Systems Engineering Department (SED) to provide comprehensive systems engineering and technical support services. The position provides opportunities to contribute to the analysis, development, integration, testing, and fleet introduction of advanced warfare systems into Naval platforms. This organization provides critical systems engineering expertise for naval aviation programs.
The Junior Systems Engineer (Manufacturing & Quality Assurance) will be supporting the H-53 Heavy Lift Helicopter Program Office (PMA-261) at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. The program is providing systems engineering support of weapons systems on various platforms, including technical research and development of technologies, analysis, and documentation as part of the acquisition of Aircraft, Weapon, and Integrated Systems and the evaluation of their technical performance, mission suitability, and associated acquisition risks throughout the full acquisition process and lifecycle of a program.
The position is remote, but the candidate must be local to the area to attend in-person meetings.

Responsibilities:

As part of an integrated team supporting program offices and engineering departments, you will provide technical oversight and systems engineering support for production, sustainment, and quality assurance of aircraft platforms and associated systems.
- Provide systems engineering support related to manufacturing processes, production readiness, and quality assurance for naval aviation systems.
- Participate in the development and review of engineering drawings, manufacturing plans, and technical data packages.
- Evaluate manufacturing processes for compliance with specifications, standards, and contract requirements.
- Assess contractor production capabilities and perform on-site assessments as needed.
- Analyze quality data and metrics to identify trends, risks, and areas for corrective/preventive action.
- Support Material Review Boards (MRB), Corrective Action Requests (CARs), and Failure Review Boards (FRBs).
- Assist in root cause analysis of quality issues and ensure effective implementation of corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including logistics, test & evaluation, configuration management, and program management.
- Prepare technical reports, risk assessments, briefings, and recommendations for Navy leadership and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems, Industrial), or a related technical discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, quality assurance, or systems engineering-preferably supporting Navy aviation programs.
- Strong knowledge of military and industry quality standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, MIL-STD-1520, AS9145).
- Familiarity with production processes, non-conformance reporting, and supplier quality management.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and process documentation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
- The selected candidate must pass a background investigation.
