Senior Database Engineer

Overview

BigBear.ai is looking for a forward-thinking Senior Database Engineer to join a high-performance software engineering and testing team. If you're passionate about designing and optimizing systems that power mission-critical decisions, this is your arena. You'll architect intelligent data solutions from the ground up-blending structure, speed, and scalability across modern platforms.

Location: Columbia, MD / National Business Park Clearance Required: TS/SCI with Polygraph

What you will do

As a Level 3 Database Engineer, you'll play a strategic role in database innovation and system evolution:

• Lead the design and development of robust database structures that integrate seamlessly into advanced system architecture
• Optimize data flow, storage, retrieval, and analysis for complex, large-scale environments
• Craft database parser and loading software to handle varied volumes and security domains
• Balance performance, security, scalability, and distribution to meet evolving mission demands
• Translate intricate business and IT requirements into intuitive, high-performing database schemas
• Create and refine ad hoc queries, scripts, and macros to manipulate and master massive datasets
• Drive system enhancement recommendations through deep analysis and testing
• Build cloud-optimized database solutions using Open Database Connectivity (ODBC), tables, and custom queries

What you need to have

• Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI with polygraph
• 10+ years of database engineering experience in large-scale programs and systems
• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (or 5 additional years of hands-on DBE experience in place of a degree)
• Proven ability to operate in high-security environments (TS/SCI with polygraph required)
• Experience leading database architecture from concept to deployment, including Initial Operational Capability (IOC)
• Advanced skills in relational and Object-Oriented database technologies which includes traditional databases (Oracle, MSSQL, MYSQL, etc) and non-traditional (NOSQL, Mongo, Cassandra, etc).
