CLASSIFICATION: Mechanical Engineer III
GRADE: Exempt; Regular Full-time
LOCATION: Eglin AFB, FL - On Site
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Senior-level engineering position responsible for leading and overseeing complex design projects, providing technical expertise, and mentoring junior engineers. Requires a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles, analysis techniques, manufacturing processes, and project management methodologies.
GENERAL DUTIES:
OTHER DUTIES: Additional duties may be assigned to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas. May be required to perform housekeeping duties in assigned work areas.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Experience: 6-10 years of relevant experience.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: May perform work assignments in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment. Some tasks and assignments such as the installation; operation; and maintenance of mobile systems, aircraft systems, or range instrumentation will require work performance in outside environments in heat or cold with exposure to the conditions typical of various work locations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must have manual dexterity to perform repairs and modifications as well as the ability to lift or carry bulky items weighing 50lbs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Senior-level engineering position responsible for leading and overseeing complex design projects, providing technical expertise, and mentoring junior engineers. Requires a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles, analysis techniques, manufacturing processes, and project management methodologies.
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Review and approve Critical Design Review (CDR) final designs before production, ensuring compliance with all requirements and specifications.
- Perform and oversee Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate designs and identify potential weaknesses.
- Develop and approve critical lift plans, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Apply and enforce knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure accurate and consistent manufacturing.
- Oversee design projects, materials selection, fastener selection, and engineered drawings for projects, ensuring quality and compliance.
- Oversee line-by-line project estimates before presentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of engineering processes and standards.

- Expert proficiency in 3D SolidWorks modeling.
- Expert knowledge of GD&T.
- Expert knowledge of FEA analysis.
- Extensive experience with machining processes, welding processes, and sheet metal processes.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
