The signal processing and hardware focused sectors of Geon are supported by the work Geon conducts with open architectures, open frameworks, and open systems that facilitate the rapid development, integration, and deployment of techniques and capabilities to operational contexts.
We have an immediate need for a Golang Developer for the development of high-performance and scalable software solutions using the Go programing language. This position involves developing a microservice architecture integrated with SDR Hardware ingesting RF signals. The software developed on this project will be deployed onto a Kubernetes cluster for deployment of the application.

In May of 2019, Amazon opened its first AWS Ground Station, a "virtualized segment for ground processing" of satellite signals that support 54 MHz uplink and 500 MHz downlink processing using the proven AWS Cloud Services and technologies. Microsoft Orbital and Google were close behind with their own satellite processing architectures based on cloud services and technologies. At the same time, technologies supporting next-generation 5G exploded into the same cloud technology arena. Geon has been awarded a prime contract to leverage these very same technologies to build next-generation Software Defined Radio (SDR) solutions for the defense and intelligence industry. The Software Developer will be responsible for:
- Designing and coding new software as well as modifying existing software to add new features
- Develop and maintain robust and scalable software solutions using the Go programming language, with a focus on performance and reliability
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate project requirements into well-designed and efficient code.
- Optimize software applications for maximum performance and efficiency, taking advantage of Go's concurrency capabilities.
- Lead the design and development of a scalable microservice architecture
- Making recommendations for improving documentation and software development standards
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
- Three (3) to fourteen (14) years of experience as a software developer, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
- Proficiency in Golang for both microservices and monolithic architectures, showcasing strong knowledge of Go standard libraries.
- Expertise in concurrent programming, understanding Go routines, channels, and the sync package to optimize performance.
- Experience with version control systems, such as Git, fostering software configuration management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of designing and implementing scalable, maintainable solutions.
- Ability to work independently or in a team-oriented, agile development environment, meeting tight deadlines and adapting to changing requirements.
- Familiarity with containerization and container orchestration technology.
- Familiarity to RF Signals is a plus but not a requirement for this position
- Must hold or be willing to obtain a Kubernetes certification (CKAD or CKA)
- Active TS/SCI w/ poly security clearance required.
